  • Mornin n’alln’all…especially you two early birds!

Strangely, I just couldn’t get to sleep last night…The last time I looked at the clock was just before you woke up gf!
I have a feeling I’m going to be a bit zombie- like today. Perhaps a siesta/40 winks later on…..

Lots of unplanned potting on needed today,on top of the domestics which are almost sorted. Goodness knows if those curtains will be made in time. If not, well, so be it.

Glad to hear you had some rain gf. Hope it was the soaking in variety?

Time for a brew- don’t ya think?…I’ll go and put the kettle on.
    Enjoy your day peeps!

      • Morning all.

Hope you had a lovely day yesterday, Flo. How are your dancing toes this morning?

Great buy on those toms, Nicos.

Bright here. Apparently we're going to get our first 'aperitif' of summer this weekend. Off out shopping in a bit so better water all the seedlings before I go.

Other than that, a bit of work and then some domestics. The garden will have to wait till tomorrow.

        Have a great day, everyone.

          • Just been told to change my shirt, possibly she just wants to see my well sculpted body, but she says its because I cant get the shirt sleeves high enough on my arms to allow them to give the jag, thats her excuse I'm going with the first reason

            • Good morning.

A much more civilised hour now. I did end up finding a book and reading in the early hours.

Mothhawk, I couldn't decide which air fryer to buy. I didn't want something massive. After much umming and arrhhing, and reading of reviews I decided on this one from Dunelm.

When I went on the website and put it in my basket, would you believe there was already some pillowcases in there that I'd slipped in last week. They're now ordered too.

Hopefully my ikea dining chairs should arrive today. I'll get my screwdriver ready. Just thus minute had a text..... they're arriving between 11.30 and 12.30.

I don't know how much rain we got last night but evidently we are due more in the next hour. There's also a strong wind blowing.

Rary, I' see what you mean about the wooden stakes, you couldn't better that.

That looks a nice compact fryer, GF, I'll have a browse round dunelm.

I've got a lot done already today, been for an early walk, the house is vaccuumed, I've prepared and frozen 2 containers of apples - new season NZ Coxes, IMO Cox is absolutely the best apple for pies etc and the season never lasts long enough for me, so I'm freezing them while they are about as I've used up all the English ones from autumn. I've also made 3lb lemon marmalade (with honey, not sugar) and confess I didn't prepare the fruit - good old mamade!

I also found time for an early brew and quiet read, and learned a new word. It's rare I have to resort to a dictionary when I'm reading but I had no clue what boustrophedon meant. And it was an odd word to use in a book of fiction. Perhaps the author was showing off his vocabulary. It means written from right to left and from left to right in alternate lines, apparently a common way of writing on stone in ancient Greece.

                  • There's a gang of workmen digging up our pavement the length of the cul-de-sac and across the road in the exact same place they dug it up this time last year. Hope it's not going to become an annual event. Those of us without drives (most) have had to find somewhere else to park for the day.

Hats off to you lass…I’ll make you a brew…..

Thats a new word for me too…I was aware about that style of writing, but wasn’t aware of what is was called. Can’t see it coming up in everyday conversation, unless you can somehow relate it to mowing a lawn?

Go on….you know you want to…go and ask the workmen what’s going on!…the guy standing around is probably the best person to ask!!!

                      • Afternoon

Warm and windy here so the laundry and little windsock are both hanging on. good drying weather though.

GF air fryers are handy when you just want to cook a couple of items like Croissants or a pastie without having to put the oven on.

We're dog sitting for a couple of days, he's a knee dog and I'm sure he's on my lap before my bottoms touched the sofa.

                        enjoy your weekend.

                          • Mornin n’alln’all

Loads of sploshy stuff over night, and still at it. Much appreciated by the potagers.

More of the same for me today…steadily getting there..feels good to get on top of a list of ‘urgent jobs’ doesn’t it?

I forgot to mention that our central heating boiler ( hot water) stopped working again..called out the heating engineer and was told to try pressing a few buttons first…did so, and it came back on…still working, so no visit needed. Phew. The heating isn’t an issue but we certainly need hot water for guests.

No local vide greniers today…just as well, too much to do, and as it’s raining it’d be a poor turn out of tables selling their unwanted ‘stuff’

Whats everyone else up to today?
I’ll go and pop the kettle on…..

                            • Morning Nicos and all.

I'm drinking mint tea, but I'll have a proper cuppa after if you're making a big pot Nicos.

I went out for a walk early on and glad I did, it's tipping down with rain now. The garden is getting that lovely damp earth aroma, it should perk up all the plants. The elder is in full flower everywhere, the air was filled with the scent of it. I made elderflower cordial yesterday, a real taste of early summer. After yesterday's activity, I have nothing to do today except to make a cottage pie for supper so a nice relaxing day.

Out of interest , do you have a recipe you could share please for the elderflower cordial? Ours are just coming into flower…
I’ve only ever made elderflower champagne before.
