  • Good evening all and what a glorious day it was.
The only fly in the ointment was the appointment I had for this afternoon.
Just remembered it at the last minute...my covid injection...done now.

Nicos, wish I lived nearer and I would be coming by for those mirabelles.

Flo, I hope you get your footwear sorted, always the same when your looking for something in particular.
    Happy anniversary to you both.
    Have a good evening all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

    • Happy anniversary, Flo and Himself.

And yes, I'd have some mirabelles too. Lovely fruit. Our plum trees are still very young, but we might get a few this year. Plums of any kind, including greengages, are my favourite fruit after raspberries.

      • Flo…here’s a thought….are your sandals a style which could cope with a little bit of simple jazzing up ?…like adding a few pearls/ beads/ dried flowers. Something subtle but making them a bit more ‘designer’ which could then be removed for future use?

        Just a thought?

        • Not had any rain during the day but we’ve got thunder rumbling overhead. I wouldn’t say no to more rain overnight - it’s making weeding the gravel much easier!

          • Good evening.

Gorgeous weather again today. I have been busy with domestics today ...... a rare event. Cleaning ..... floors, tiles and windows. I'm not sure what brought it on. I'm sure it won't last. I've even ordered a new feather duster (or it's modern equivelant).... a dust magnet.

I'm too old to become a domestic goddess. At my age my grandmother had just about decided that housework was a waste of time.

            • Mornin n’alln’all
We had loads of bangy and flashy stuff going on overhead last night…but not a drop of rain! Lovely to watch though.
I’m not as achy this morning, so clearly my gardening muscles must slowly be building back up to the task
It looks like it’s going to be another lovely day here so guess where you’ll be finding me?

I defrosted some chicken thighs overnight so we can have a bbq later…perfect weather for one!

Wow GF…pop over here if you are still feeling hyperactive/ efficient ..Tis a good feeling isn’t it when you are on top of domestic tasks?

I think it’s time for a brew!…kettle’s on- anyone care to join me?
Enjoy your day, and remember those lovely smiles of yours…

              • Good morning

I've been wide awake since 6 am. I think what started yesterday's cleaning blitz was realising that the window cleaner was due to make his monthly vist any day and the inside of my kitchen window looked awful. The silly thing is that it takes less than 5 minutes to clean it with the window vac. My brain must still be in "Stepford wife" mode, however, as I've just been adding nice smelling disinfectant to my shopping list.

Coffee is now calling loudly. I'll be back later.

                • I think my OH has caught your bug GF… he’s decided to paint one of the front doors and a couple of windows inside and out.
If previous experience is anything to go by, he’ll end up doing all the outside doors ( 6 of them) and windows so they all match!
we are out doing ‘medical stuff’ tomorrow and the specialist paint shop is near where we are going, so I guess we’ll be popping in to stock up.
It’s really, really expensive here and we usually bring indoor paint from the UK, but outdoor UK paint here tends to blister in the heat, so French paint it is then….at around 100€ a pot
Is paint stupidly expensive in Spain too Snoop?

Right…well, OH has already started , so I best get on with more weeding of the gravel whilst the morning dew is keeping the soil underneath nice and damp.

                  • Nicos, is french paint generally better quality than English paint? I remember years ago buying some french yacht varnish at the boat show and then struggling to find some more the same. It was just better than anything else I'd used. I eventually tracked some down to a chandler's somewhere in Geordieland. (100 miles each way). I remember it was certainly not cheap....to say the least, and four gallons of petrol on top.

                    • Good Morning All Very cloudy here but still very warm. I too thought of trimming the sandals up in some way Nicos, but I think it might draw attention to my feet, so will leave them plain
My neighbour across the way has tied a huge peony on my fence this morning - he's just told me it's a little something for the cake I gave him last weekend
                      How's your dog today Snoop?
                      Have a good day

                      • Good morning all. Another lovely sunny day.
Just some domestics this morning and looking after my grandson this afternoon.
Some gardening and pottering in between.

                        Wow Nicos, that's expensive paint.
Does any peeps remember people put sun protection curtains over their door, I guess they were on to something,

Flo, my fingers are crossed for you regarding your footwear.

                        • Morning all.

Yes, Nicos, paint is extremely expensive here too. Even paint for the interior. In fact, thinking about it, we don't have any 'paint' on the exterior, just lazure for window frames and linseed oil for the old wooden lintels.

As for the dog, Flo, it was looking really grim for her last week, but we've added a veterinary spray containing honey that has made a huge difference. It's all only temporary, but she's still a happy girl with us (visitors at the weekend brought a dog with them - a young male - and she didn't like that), so while she can put up with our ministrations, we'll carry on.

Peonies are beautiful flowers. Must have been a lovely surprise.

Weather supposedly dry today, so will get out and do a bit of weeding and seed sowing. Lovely.

                          Have a great day, everyone.

                            • Glad you got a good sleep, LD. Bet you needed it. And a holiday by the sea sounds lovely. And a proper holiday, with no cooking or washing-up! Brilliant.

                              • Holliblobs Lottie?…Yey!… fantastic. I know how disappointed you were having to cancel the previous one. You really do deserve a lovely break xx

French paint is certainly ‘different’ . Tends to be more chalky and very much thinner. And a disappointingly limited selection of colours!

Not heard of ‘Sun protection curtains’ over a door bramble- sounds interesting!
Sounds logical on south facing glass front doors. My first thought was you meant they went outside to protect the door from sunlight, but then I reckon you meant indoors - to stop the sunlight from bleaching the carpet?

Right…my choc ice break is almost over…do please help yourselves…better on your hips and waistline than mine!
