Morning all.

Low of just under 15 ºC last night and extremely windy. So quite cold by our recent standards. Bliss. All the doors and windows were open (plus the woodburning stove door), so lots of cool air whipped through the house all night. Feels distinctly cool in here today. Perfect. Due to be even chillier tonight and I'm on bar duty. Better take a jumper with me.

Plenty to keep me busy in the meantime. Mr Snoop is still pruning the olive tree. It suffered a lot of snow damage and he's suggesting taking a lot of the branches off... Always makes me sad, even though they grow back really quickly. Amazing the punishment an olive tree can take. Don't think the smiles will like it when they see it on their return tonight.

Well it rained here the whole night.
Looked out this morning and there were flooded areas where they never were before.
The rain has cleared now but we have a yellow wind warning in place.
It's a bank holiday here but no plans due to the awful weather.
Snoop, I dont think the smiles would be impressed to be here at the moment.
Have a good dsy all and enjoy the sunshine those that are lucky enough to have it.

horrible horrible horrible ... Rain rain and more rain (just for a change) wanted to do a bit of tidying up in the garden today but thats off. So, I thought "I'll listen to the radio"(I'm a licenced Radio amateur and keen Short wave listener) that was dead, hardly a signal to be heard today! so it looks like a sitting in the chair with a mug of coffee and a good book

Good afternoon

Yet another rainy day here in waterlogged Yorkshire. I have heard a whisper that things might improve at the end of next week. I actually turned the heater up to max in the car this morning.

I went to get Mr GF a selection of his favourite sweets, pear drops, rosy apples, pontefract cakes, etc in one of the pound type shops and also to see if they had any labels suitable for my jam jars this year as apparently last year I didn't seem to label anything I made and my memory is just about as disorganised as the rest of me and so I decided things had to change. I had had a glance online but not seen anything I fancied at a reasonable price.

I found packs of 40 self adhesive chalkboard labels, a variety of shapes, with a pen for £1 and bought a pack to try. I am impressed with them. I intend going and buying several more packs tomorrow.

Afternoon all.
It's been raining since I got up at 6.30 and still showing no signs of stopping, the whole sky is grey. Glad I was able to do a fair bit of weeding yesterday, and spread some compost on the weeded areas. I scattered all the old flower seeds from my seed box too, most are probably too old to grow, but nothing venture nothing gain.

Be careful, Flo. It apparently makes carpets slippery too. It's the silicon in the spray.

Pear drops used to be my favouite sweets GF. As a little girl, when I stayed with my grandparents during the summer holidays, I would spend my 6d pocket money in the village grocers on a quarter of pear drops. That sticky paper bag full lasted me all week, tucked in a pocket of my shorts as my gramps took us on long walks around the village lanes. Happy days.

Thanks for the heads up GF I’ll have a look in our local pound shop for those labels. They look much sturdier than the masking tape I scribble the jar contents on.

All good here bramble. I had an amazing soak in the bath this afternoon - I read almost half a book

Off to bed now with half plums in the oven slowly dehydrating at 60C….they’ve already been in for 7 hrs and not changed much….I’m guessing there is no rush. Never dried plums before….any tips?

I like those labels gf….how are they stuck on?….sticky back?
I have mice in the cellar and we have periods where they eat all the labels…basically printed computer paper stick on with Pritt stick.

The labels are self adhesive and very sticky. Back in my dim and distant organised days I used to design and print all my own jar labels with Microsoft publisher. Years ago I bought a big box of adhesive label paper at a car boot sale but I still had some left when it eventually lost it's stickiness. These days I seriously can't be bothered with all the effort.

Its all quiet outside - no wind nor rain. Here’s hoping for a better day so we can finally get out into the garden!
My lawn is a mass of daisies - normally it’s brown and crunchy by now.. Are the uk reservoirs starting to get back to normal levels these days?

Good morning.

I'm late up today - had a good book I couldn't put down till I'd finished it last night, so I was rather late to bed.

It feels a bit chilly outside after yesterday's rain, but the garden looks happy Looks like there'll be plenty of runner beans for lunch. I think I'll make strawberry crumble for dessert, I do prefer the flavour of cooked strawbs to raw ones.

Nicos, my lawn, and those of my neighbours too, is full of yellow hawksbeard.
