        • Glad things are looking up, Rary. You sound like a very "caring" nurse.

For at least the last week (month) the picture on my TV has been steadily getting worse, today it got to the point of being unwatchable on certain stations. I just had to have a look and a poke around among the cobwebs and miles of cables behind the TV. There's a TV, a hard drive recorder, a signal booster, a sound system and a DVD player. I have spent two hours fiddling around, swapping cables over, and racking my brains trying to sort the problem. 🤯 It has always been my job, but I tend to not think about it while everything is working. I have now not got perfection but it is watchable. I need a new HDMI cable and probably a new booster box. At least nobody has to go on the roof to play with the aerial, I hope.

          • That brings back memories of our first home in 1972 when one of us would be moving around our front room with an indoor aerial trying to get a decent picture!

            • ^^^ and when you found the ideal position it was mid air or somewhere awkward…only to find when you’d let go the signal dropped because somehow you apparently had become part of the receiver

              • Good night all.

Rary, so pleased to hear Mrs Rary is home and doing well.
We had a lovely sunny day, high of 25 degs.
We have packed up and are hearing to the sirportvin the morning.
                Have a good night all.

                • Morning

GF its frustrating trying to sort out those cables makes you wonder how they got tangled in the first place, hope your new HDMI cable and booster fixes your problem.

Not much happening here today its dull and wet out, a bit of shopping then popping into the charity shops on the way home.

                  Safe journey Bramble.

                  • Morning all.

The TV aerial used to be up on the roof. Dad only tried to wiggle it around once. Ladder not quite long enough, plastic gutters, tiles perhaps not that well fixed in place... When there was a change in the mast, he left it to a specialist. What I remember most is when they introduced stereo radio. Him downstairs and one of my brothers in the loft, spending hours trying to get the aerial right for that. As you say, Nicos, every time my brother let go of the aerial, the signal got lost. Took them forever. Me and my brother joking about one of our grandfathers who went up in the loft at his house. Put his leg through the ceiling, while we were in the room below. My brother must have been four and me five at the time. We both laughed at the memory, but it is not to my credit that I found it funnier than my brother, who became worried about doing the same. My dad was so proud of that red light showing that a stereo signal was being received.

So, a bright but nippy start to the day here. Still no frost, though the thermometer suggests it wasn't far off. Cloudy later, so I hope the solar panels and batteries get their fill this morning.

Got a lot to get through today, so I swished the smiles on their way early. They were quite animated this morning and I think they were talking about going on an adventure today and doing something they've never tried before: giving you a wave, Bramble, through the airplane window. I did try to warn them you might be in an aisle seat and not notice them, but they were not to be deterred. Safe travels, either way.

                    Have a great day, everyone.

                      • Mornin n’alln’all;D

Safe travels bramble- it’s got pretty windy here with the threat of thunderstorms- hope you don’t bump into one midair..although that would be exciting! If the smiles are indeed attempting to meet up with you, get ready for a ‘Mission Impossible’ rescue of them…I’m guessing a few inflatable life jackets fastened together dangling out of the doorway might be the way to go…..No need to clamber along the wing…. ( yeh….I’ve recently watched the latest MI movie - although most of that action was on a train )

Lots of tidying up for me inside and out as we have friends coming over for lunch tomorrow and the place needs a bit of sprucing up

My review…..The hot water bottle was amazing. Different from the normal type in that I found it initially hotter generally ( probably greater surface area ) , and so cooled down quicker, but it certainly hit the mark as far as achy bits were concerned, and my feet warmed up much quicker!
Overall I’m really pleased to have bought it! It’s a bit big for generalised tummy ache and yes, it does use more water, but I too would recommend it.

                        Enjoy your day peeps…

                        • Sorry to be nosy Flo…but where are you considering having decorated? Just the thought of the disruption you had a few years ago must give you a ‘here we go again’ moment
                          Needs must of course

I’m hoping to kick start my OH into finishing painting the last section of our kitchen within the next 4 weeks- there always seems to be something else more pressing. I’d do it myself but he’s waaay better at it than me, and of course he’s left the trickiest bits till last.
Maybe I should just start it with the hope he’ll take over

                          • You're right Nicos, but this time the disruption will be planned! The lounge hasn't been done since we were flooded so that's first on the list and I'm hoping to get that done before Saturnalia. Then hall, stairs and landing need a fresh cost of paint, along with our bedroom, but they could wait until early next year.

                            • Good evening/night all.
We arrived home this evening to a mild 14 degs.
Our daughter was waiting for us at the airport which was a nice surprise.

Snoop, we were sitting over the wing and saw lots of smiles
waving and wishing us a safe journey.

Nicos, no excitement or anything unusual on our flight today other than it was a very big one and it was full.

We are a bit confused tonight as we will be putting our clock back by two hours, one from Spain and one from the usual seasonal change.

We will check in tomorrow when we get our head together.
                              Have a good night all,

I'll let them know. Doubtless they'll be back to see you sometime today - no idea when, given all the clock discombobulation - to celebrate a mission accomplished.
