Morning all.
Nobody else up yet? I'll leave you all to your beauty sleep and have a solo brew. I'll make a fresh pot later on to bring aound on trays.
Glad to hear Mrs Rary had a good night's sleep, hope she's having another now, sleep is the best doctor.
I finished decorating the tree and am very pleased with how it looks. Well worth the effort. I also have a plan as to where I can put it when it comes down, so it doesn't have to be heaved back into the loft. Just a question of whether it will fit or not, but I reckon it will. It involves some clutter shifting, but I've a whole month to work on that.

Mornin n’alln’all
I’m awake MH!
Ta muchly for the brew- perfect timing I must say
I’m so glad you are enjoying your tree. We only got as far as bringing our real one in yesterday and putting the lights on it. Just that alone turned on during the evening was lovely, even though it didn’t have any decorations in it!
We’ve had rain all night and it’s forecast to continue so there’s no excuse not to finish off the festive decorations ( apart from the other greenery which can wait another week)
Hope Mrs Rary had another decent sleep. No matter how quiet staff try to be in hospital, there’s still too much going on to mentally switch off.
Being a Sunday, I think I might just snuggle down for another half hour and listen to the rain patting on the window.
Enjoy your day peeps- and keep smiling!

Morning all.
Hazy sun here today. But pretty chilly.
The house is quiet - Jack is up the valley spending the morning with M. The cats are enjoying the peace.
On the cards for today, some domestics, lunch, the F1 race (we're not big fans but M is and we now have the telly) and then the Christmas fair. Didn't manage the fair yesterday.
Hope Mrs Rary is doing well today. And congrats on your tree, MH. Sounds like you wouldn't have got anything as nice if you'd bought another. And just as well you didn't try altering this one despite my daft suggestion!
Have a great day, everyone.

Good morning all, it's been raining overnight and it's still coming down.
Going toothed church shortly,.
Hope Mrs Rary had a pain free night.
MH, your tres sounds lovely, you sound very organised.
Snoop, enjoy the peace and quiet.
Have a good day all,
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

That's exactly what I thought once it was finished, Snoop. It must be 30 years old if it's a day, a top brand bought half price in the after christmas sales back in the day when stock ordering wasn't strictly controlled by computers and there was always loads of leftover stock to sell. Even then I thought it was expensive, but it has certainly earned its keep.Originally posted by Snoop Puss View Post

The only downside is that it smells a bit dusty these days. Not sure how I can fix that. I think giving it a good hose down would make its metal bits rust. Perhaps I could use a fabric freshener on it before putting it away. What do you reckon?

Good suggestion from Flo. Or even a very dry pomander might do the trick. Though I think I am far from being a trustworthy source of info when it comes to Christmas trees. A tree thirty years old and possibly more deserves a lot of respect. So glad it has come into its own again, MH.

I had some of those a few years ago. This year when I had a sniff of a "pine" scented one in the store, it put me in mind of toilet cleaner, not as they used to be at all.Originally posted by Florence Fennel View PostI have pine scented sticks to hang on mine MH, they smell really strong. I leave them in the box with the tree when I pack it away and it works.
Packing the tree away with something scented is a good idea though, thanks.Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land

My pre-lit tree is up. I had forgotten about the middle section not working, but luckily found the battery operated set of lights I used for the gap. I'm glad I didn't buy a new tree as this one looks really pretty even before trimming. I'll decorate it tomorrow
