I couldn't wait any longer. Even with the kitchen door closed most of the time, the aroma has been driving me mad and whetting my appetite. I have had a "few" teaspoonfuls earlier, just to check it was okay.

It was absolutely wonderful. The taste lived up to the smell. Shall I put the other half in the freezer or just keep it in the fridge for tomorrow?

      • I was going to try Mangelwurzel dauphinois with a rather aged Mangelwurzel I'd forgotten to harvest.
However it was too woody by now (unsurprisingly), so cheese and tomato toastie it is.

Going to try a crushed new potato base instead of pastry for a change…anyone tried that?
No, never tried that, Nicos. Let us know how it goes. Can you do this with older potatoes too?

            I don’t see why not.
Having said that, I’m glad the base was blind baked before the filling was added…it gave it more texture . TBH, next time I’d add a more tasty filling like sausage or bacon as the spuds were a bit bland for my liking.

                • I've just put the rest of the curry in the freezer for another day.

Tonight I think eggs in purgatory with garlic bread and a small side salad. (It really doesn't feel like salad weather).

                  • Roast Pork, sage and onion stuffing, roast potatoes and carrots, cauliflower and broccoli cheese and Yorkshire pudding with onion gravy. If that doesn't whet Himself's appetite, I don't know what will

                    • ^Fingers crossed for you, Flo. That's a lot of effort to go through if he doesn't fancy it. All that said, Mr Snoop would turn the pork into a sandwich and have the rest on the side.

                        It's certainly whetting my appetite.

                                Might be similar tonight
