Last night's cod goujons and sweet potato wedges were wonderful. Mr GF thought they were more enjoyable than the fish and chips that we get from the chippy, and I agree.

Tonight I think will be vol au vents filled with garlic mushrooms in a bechamel type sauce. We'll have them with a salad and maybe some garlic bread, depending how hungry we feel.

The next time I wander into the kitchen I'll make some mayonnaise for the salad. Mr GF will eat vast amounts of salad as long as he gets a generous amount of mayonnaise with it.

Roast Chicken Justa for Himself, with salad for me. Apple Pie and cream.

Falafel, coleslaw and green salad. Mirabelles for afters.

Scampi, salad, tartare sauce and sweet potato wedges. (The scampi and wedges can go in the air fryer together - less heat in the kitchen.

Pork steak, roast potatoes, carrots and broccoli - in the air fryer. Raspberry trifle.

Brown trout with whatever veg I can cobble together. Probably no pud required - the fish are a fair size.

Actually got into the village's travelling fishmonger's today for the first time in ages. The queue is normally out the door. No idea why no-one there today. Anyway, my good fortune, as we've got a fish bonanza for the next few days.

No icecream..I made this instead…it’s very much my go to winter ‘spur of the moment pud’ when I forget about the calories…

I use SR flour , so no baking powder , and use melted butter instead of oil.
It’s in teaspoons and tablespoons and so easy to make. Three times the quantity in a medium sized Pyrex bowl and that’s perfect for 4 people.

Nicos, I remember sending a recipe very similar to that to my niece when she was away at university and needed cheering up.

We're up for gilthead bream with salad tonight. If they're anything like yesterday's fantastic trout, we're in for another treat. No pud required, I think.

No idea for tonight. We have a mountain of french beans needing eating.
Probably have them hot tumbled with lardons served with poached eggs on top.
