Hardly any time for gardening this week, but have managed to finally put in my order for strawberry runners and seeds from Marshalls. 40 strawberries and 11 packets of seeds on their way! These, together with the free packet of tomato seeds that came with the GYO magazine I picked up from Tescos today means I will have 10 new varieties to add to my list. The strawberries have a home already, and the peas, old faithfuls Hurst Green Shaft and Onward, are replacements for stocks that are running low. Radish sangria, mustard and american land cress are for micro greens. Cabbage Pixie is to replace Duncan, which seems to grow too big for my garden (Pixie is small - I have grown it before). Where I am going to put Brokali, 2 new varieties of spinach, another variety of carrot and another type of tomato is anyone's guess!

Today I hoed some weeds that have started growing, reorganised my shed, inspected the roof area ready for re-roofing (it's in desperate need), re-shuffled my greenhouse, potted on a tray of sprouted garlic (3 more to go).

Started my annual pot and seed tray sort-out. Threw out any cracked ones, then washed the first batch which are now soaking in the family bath with a few sterilising tablets. Then they'll be dried and sorted by size.
I always start out with good intentions to be stay organised, but it never lasts....

First visit to the Hill of the year.

Repaired the netting tunnel which had been blown about a bit.
              Picked kale and The Parsnip.
Emptied two daleks, moved them to their new locations; refilled with un-composted compost and horse muck to start them off, then spread the good stuff about on the beds.

Came home to defrost - now baking biscuits.

GL! I was always told once raspberry canes were newly planted you prune em back to 6 inch high, and always have done!

Not that I've planted that many!

But yeah! They pulled through for me!

finished manuring the plot at last!

Also, started clearing out my tiny shed, making room for a new and improved bigger one soon!!!!

I will be making a new shed from scratch, and not buying one....

Seperate thread in a few weeks hopefully on that!!!!!

Yesterday pruned the Bramley apple tree. Today did some strimming, dug up some oca and snipped a big bag of pak choi and salad leaves from the greenhouse
Gardening is cheaper than therapy and you get tomatoes

Hi just a quick note Is this the correct place to reply to the "what I did today" if it is then I started to clean out the green house to make ready to sow my sweet pea seeds and I am running a electrical supply from the shead so I can have a light and a small heater in there,
Any tips on sowing sweet pea seeds would be welcome.

                            Many thanks Dave

                              Only 7???

This morning I'm sorting out my seeds. VC, you may well receive a parcel from me this week if I manage to get to the PO.

I've been trying to do Winter clear up in the garden so that I can spend more time in the veg patch. Stan is putting paid to that...although watch this space, with fingers crossed I'm going to sort one bed out today and get it mulched with wood chips to hold back the weeds. But it's looking very cold and super windy out there I'll let you know if I manage to do anything.

Not today but yesterday - built a potting bench and storage area in the poly-tunnel. I know that some think all of the poly tunnel should be devoted to growing but this works for me and can be changed in the future if needed.
