    Tuesday jobs
Today's job is to spread as much of the gravel on the drive as possible. It is arriving between 7am and 1pm and it is due to rain this morning and hopefully clear up this afternoon, so I might get it done today if I have the energy!
    Collect any rain water

The gravel arrived at 7.30am which gave me plenty of time to spread it on the drive. Also planted florence fennel at the allotment and did some weeding.

      Wednesday jobs (weather permitting)
      Weeding and horsetail
      Sow flowers, microgreens, leeks
      Trim euonymus hedge
      Watering if necessary
Harvest lettuce, salad leaves, spinach, carrots, PSB, rhubarb

        Weeding and horsetail - no
Sow flowers, microgreens, leeks - no
        Trim euonymus hedge - no
Watering if necessary - done greenhouse, rain did the rest
Harvest lettuce, salad leaves, spinach, carrots, PSB, rhubarb - done PSB

The weather didn't play ball - it was raining most of the time when I had time to garden, and when I did manage to get to the allotment the wind was so cold that all I could do was collect the small amount of rain water and grab some PSB for tea.

        No gardening time tomorrow.

        • My meeting finished early yesterday so I had time to do a little weeding and trim back the longest shoots on the hedge alongside the path to the allotment. I have been meaning to ask the lady that has the next allotment to do this for weeks, but she is never there, and I am sick of being hit in the face by increasingly long and prickly hawthorn branches, so I did the minimum myself. Also trimmed the euonymus hedge and watered everything as there has been almost no rain here, and harvested some carrots.

          Friday jobs
          Weeding and horsetail
Take peas to allotment and plant
          Rearrange plants under lights
          Pot up flower seedlings
          Sow flowers, microgreens, leeks
          Watering
Harvest lettuce, salad leaves, carrots, PSB, rhubarb

          • Well done you with the hedge! We have a similar problem with an infrequent neighbour who doesn't tend their designated path. The couch grass encroaches & weed seeds spread to our plot. We could kick up a fuss or let it get overgrown but its easier to give it a minimal weeding to keep it under control. I do draw the line at barrowing woodchip like we do for ours though.

Thanks Andraste. It is very irritating when you spend hours weeding and then someone next door allows the weeds to seed. The half of the neighbouring plot that is nearest to mine has been roughly strimmed, but is basically weeds and grass, and at the moment is liberally covered with horsetail fruiting bodies. There is nothing I can do about it, and unfortunately the wind is blowing from that direction.

Rain stopped play at lunchtime, although it was desperately needed. I collected a couple of buckets full of water at the allotment, which won't last long! Also changed the capillary matting under the lights as it was growing a lot of moss.

The grass was too wet to cut in the morning so I trimmed the roadside hedge instead. Also moved some of the tomato plants onto the sitting room windowsill. Dentist at 3pm and far too sore to eat anything afterwards.
