Also sieved about 120 litres compost as part of clearing the pots for the potatoes (compost to be used for carrots) and put the net on the carrot cage to keep the cats off the sieved compost.

The potato buckets took almost all day but I am glad to get them done.

The job for today is to replace the net on the tunnel with a new one as it is cloudy and not windy so a good day for staring into the sky and dealing with large amounts of netting. I expect this to take all day, and possibly some of tomorrow too.

As expected the tunnel took me all day, but I have done the sides with temporary fixings at the top (in case of snow) and just have the ends to finish off.

How long do you chit your peas for Pen?

I cover them with water for about a day then put them on very wet kitchen paper until they start to develop roots. I then pot up the rooted ones and leave the rest, checking them morning and evening for roots. Usually if they haven't rooted within a week they are not going to.
