        • Roughly dug over beds for pots, bunged on manure and covered with black plastic.

Mulched Raspberrys with a good few inches of leaves.

I was the only person at the lottie so had a natter with my very tame friend Mr Robin and fed him a few worms.

              • Convinced my boss that I actually did WANT the cardboard they were going to recycle for my allotment. I don't think she believes I'm 20 and have an allotment

                • A balmy 6 degrees here today so, after two weeks of snowbound inactivity, I cracked on and did quite a bit of clearing/tidying. Managed to extend the asparagus bed to allow me to put another three crowns in next spring. That'll give me 15 which should be enough for the two of us plus the odd guest (and some of them are very odd )

After that I chucked doggy in the car and drove round the coast where I got two sacks of seaweed. Could have got more but only two empty sacks in the car boot. There's piles of it been pushed up by the tides so I'll have a run out next week with more sacks.

Got that nice warm glow that you get after a spell working outside. OH says I'm easily pleased.

                          • Another fun day at the allotment.

Filled a wine making barrel with warm water as I new all my water buts and the chooks water tubs would be frozen. Loaded into car along with a sck barow to push the damm thing (cripes they are heavy when full of water)
Had a large bag of layers pellets already in the car so when I got to allotment I loaded both pellets and water barrel on to sack barrow and scuttled down a very steep icy bank to the lottie.
Just gave each water receptacle a dose of warm water on top of its existing ice and the chooks tucked in like they had never seen water for a month.
Broke the ice on Sids water and to thank me he attcked me two footed. Threatened him telling him he would become Christmas dinner and he backed off a bit.
Chooks watered, feed receptacles filled up and eggs collected it was time to turn my attention to the damaged greenhouses.
Gave the chooks some marrows which had got frosted in the shed.
For safety reasons I spent a good half hour breaking glass into small pieces and loading into a large bucket.
Loaded the bucket of glass, the empty beer barrel and todays eggs onto the sack barrow and set off back home from the frozen wastes.

                              • Stella,I couldn't better your style if I tried.......
Wishing all of you, each and every one a really lovely Christmas......
I'm gathering in bits of holly and ivy to decorate the farmhouse, and two or three times each day feeding and really so importantly 'watering' my garden birds.

Did you know that your garden birds need to eat the equivalent of a third of their own body weight each and every day in these tough times just to survive? and they need to be able to splutter about and wash themselves in a birdbath of unfrozen water when everything around them is frozen solid. It's SO important for fluffing their feathers out and keeping them alive, so please, please keep putting fresh water out for them....X
