Hope your giving blood went ok NannySally. They always have to hunt for my veins - I normally get one arm tested and doesn't work so they go to the other one That happens no matter which arm they start with. My mother has the exact same problem.

Good evening Folks, a dull mild day with occasional showers, its been a quiet day today and I have not done much, though I did take one of my grandsons to his swimming lessons, and I struggled to stay awake in the heat of the place, I think I will start making up my hanging baskets tomorrow, which will help free some space in the greenhouse
I don't have any age related poem tonight, but here is one dedicated to a friend

up in the morning is not for me
but I have been asked by a friend for a
lift you see
I will set the alarm, so that should be fine
I have used it before as its actually mine

To set it is easy you just twiddle the knob
its was very expensive it cost me ten bob
now how do you set it, let me see
I twist it and turn it and pull this pin free

Now that's it set its taken some time
its now to eleven and I started at nine
I'm off to bed as I feel quite tiered
and this is the earliest since I retired

I've slept all night, but there is something to do!?
I glance at the clock and it all comes back
a friend, a lift, for a certain time too
I'm out of my bed, I need to make tracks

I rush down the stairs taking two at a time
what happened to the alarm I thought it was fine
I glance at the wall clock and come to a stop
it wasn't the alarm, I had set the wrong time
so now I can slow down and sit in the chair
I have time for toast, and a comb through my hair
then phone my friend to let her know I'll be there

As I said, for a friend, and I hope you dont mind

Do you remember when you could ask the telephone operator to call you at a certain time? We never did that as we used next-door's phone and they wouldn't have be very pleased!

That's a lot of lavender VC!

If you've cooked with lavender ....

Not Exact recepie for lavender sorbet

1 cup lavender flowers
3 cups sugar - maybe more maybe less depends on how intense you want the lavender
6 cups water (in proportion to sugar)

add lemon juice to taste

Mix sugar and flowers together and leave over night.
Next day bring water to boil - add sugar and stir until sugar dissolved.
Pour through a sieve to remove flowers.
Let cool to room temperature them pour into a container for the freezer

For sorbet, check regularly and keep whisking to make sure ice crystals are broken up and the sorbet is smooth.
For granita let it freeze then, when serving scrape off servings with a spoon - this gives a grainier desert but is a lot easier

You'll be happy to hear I'm trying to support the UK bacon industry singlehandedly ....muchly enjoying bacon butties...fishnchips...cheesecake...Apple turnovers.....ooops...my poor diet!

For those of you now stressing about the state of my health....I'm also thoroughly enjoying a massive variety of live yogourts too

Hope everyone is ok?...gosh...not long until Easter...never seen so many chocolate eggs in the shops!...and yep...I am rather tempted to treat myself to one!
