I swear we all have the same husband!!

Strange things folk do? 22 years ago my Dad took me out in the snow and taught me how to handle a car going sideways, at speed, down a hill This Christmas he bought my hubby brother and son a snow shovel for the car but not me. His reasoning was that if I see snow I can go back to bed, the men have to go to work! Daft old get!

What a father! Brilliant! Actually teaches you the skills you need, but lets the men know they have to graft! I would happily lie in bed until OH had cleared the drive

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish, and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day

I wouldn't say he's a builder... He's a salesman really, but did a stint as a tiler for 4 years or so in between selling tiles and bathrooms. Now he's a debt adviser (a nice one, not a take-what-little-cash-you-have-left type) but still can't seem to manage to stick on a row of about a dozen tiles in the kitchen

Yup - mine cooks at home now he's not a Chef. I have to get my car to the garage to be fixed, even though he's now a mechanic!

I am the first to admit I am crap at finishing a job and there are dozens of half finished jobs around the garden and allotment.

Mr OWG has offered to help a recently separated friend of mine with some DIY, as she is struggling on her own to build furniture, put up new blinds etc in her new house... I think it's really lovely that he is as concerned as I am about how she is doing, and neither of us want to leave her in the lurch etc.

However, he can't manage to do any DIY in our house

I have one who ferries his various relatives around the place, plus drives 100 miles at the weekend to collect his daughter, yet if I ask for a lift somewhere (rarely) he moans on about just being a taxi

The Mother In Law deserves a mention or 20...

The in laws emigrated 2 years (Florida) and ever since we have been made to feel bad about it.
                          - We don't email enough: we do, she just ignores them
                          - We aren't going over enough: we went Christmas 2009, they came over for the wedding in May 2010 (well fitted us in during a week in Cornwall).
                          - We have a life so are not there to answer every email when it comes through.

                          Etc.

Plus, people who use bad grammar and those people who stop suddenly when walking along, so you run into the back of them.

My sympathies Jojo. I have a friend who moved abroad, and she gets quite narky sometimes about the fact I don't visit. As my Husband says; You moved, not us!

Oooh Glutton 4, you have made my day. Luckily the OH and I are on the same page as we both say 'they moved over there'.

But the main thing is that she only ever emails my hotmail account, so I read everything first and the emails are either 1 overly emotional or 2 rude because she doesn't read them through first or think about how they will be interpretted.

I am slowly getting used to it, just very different to my folks.

I was shocked in a supermarket the other day when the woman in front of me didn't put the divider thingy after her shopping on the conveyor belt . EVERBODY puts the divider thingy after their shopping for the next person. Don't they?
