Its something that worry's me about my daughter, getting in a car with mates that then show off or have drunk too much. I have had this conversation with her and said if ever she feels she isnt comfortable getting in a car then dont.
Dont ya just love teenager's. I can remember my son getting his first car and I went with him to get it, he drove home and my knuckles were white lol. No different now 13 or so years later, I still tell him to slow down lol.

I'd have been grounded for about a year if I'd pulled a stunt like that! Did some stuff I shouldn't have done but would never have dared take a car without permission.

Hey I had a 45 year old doing hand brake turns on a car park (male of course) .... and when Police turned up, had the audacity to argue with them!! Teenagers you expect to do daft things, it's part of their rite of passage, but a 45 year old?? Even he will willingly admit - men never grow up, their toys just get bigger!

What scares me is that kids these days couldn't pass a Cycling Proficiency, but they are given a driving license just like that

Well we've probably all done something stupid at some point in our lives, some of us get caught and some of us don't. No-one was hurt and she'll have learnt a valuable lesson .
Something similar happened in our Asda car park a few years ago. While the parents were shopping the kids decided to drive round in the family car, they somehow managed to flip it onto its side between two parked cars.

When is the court date...although she could possibly do with having to stew over a bit of a wait,I hope it's not far off for you.
...and Yep...I have a couple of 'arrestable incidents' in my past...just never got caught.Hopefully this will be a bit of a stand up call to her.{{{x}}}

Adults can be daft as well.My friend went to visit somebody with her family(her OH and toddler).Mr.Daft had a few beers and started pulling the handbrake on the way back home,just to "wind her up"(he thought it was funny).

It's a trying time with teenagers! I hope they just want to give her and friend a good fright to hammer home the point. Perhaps this incident is one that will make her think twice in the future and could save her from something much more dangerous. Always look for the silver lining.....

As has been said, she could have picked a worse place to do it, she could have done a lot worse and she could have had a much worse outcome.
It is with no sense of pride that I can assure you I did much worse as a kid, ending up being looked after by HM Detention Centre Privett for a few months. I then grew up in most senses of the word and had my kids.
Received more than one phone call telling me my son had done stuff and got caught. Whilst I had no moral high ground to take, and well he knew it, I was his father, and as such gave him the benefits of my wisdom in short sharp syllables.
He has now grown up in every sense of the word, and will no doubt have anxious times as his daughter grows up.

There will be very few parents on the Vine who could hold their hands up and say their past was without blemish, its just how life is.

Hopefully, what will happen to your teenage daughter is what happens to almost all kids, you do stupid stuff in your formative years, most people get away with it, a few get caught, and then you grow up.

daft thing is if the friend hadn't been mucking about doing handbrake turns nothing would have happened most probably. My daughter was tootling about in 1st and 2nd, just getting a feel for driving !!!

Sounds like she was getting more than lessons in driving - lessons in friends and the trouble they can get you into, and lessons in the law and how it can deal with people who don't mean to be bad, just do silly things.

Keep positive....No one was injured and it's clearly been a shock for all concerned...I can think of a lot worse things she could have done though.
Silly girl....she's certainly learning the hard way.

I'm afraid it's the first of many things she'll do that, as a mom, you can't rub or kiss better.

Mmm. One of mine went off with the scooters, broke all the rules (only 3!) and crashed into a local passing by. He is now the proud father of my grandson (well, I suppose Charlie is his son too....) so there is hope. Just hang on in there and give them stick when they need it.
