Ooh Binley - your mention of the breadmaker being OH's domain - I forgot to add mine on my list but it was my late OH's fave machine: it is in the shed and he always was proud of his 'shed bread' - I am proud to report that I made my first set of shed bread last weekend ( lost instruction book and all!)

I have a stove top steamer, which is great for doing up to 3 different veggies, and sometimes I steam chicken or fish in it too.
Use it most days.
Wouldn't think an electric one would be any better than this.
Didn't consider it a gadget as it is basically a pan with 2 other pans with holes in the bottom.
Actually considering getting another one, as I could often do with an extra pot or two.
It also saves on the gas, as only one burner is in use instead of 3 (or 4, if I do get another).

Forgot to mention my Mezzaluna. OH searched high and low to find one for me for Xmas a couple of years ago and then after Christmas for the next few months it seemed like every shop we went into was selling them. There are 10 kinds of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't.

A breadmaker every year! That's really bad, our Panasonic is used about 3 times per week and is now 3 years old with no signs of failing.
