I know, but I really like the word, and I have faith in the grapes to manage it.

I also discovered a really ugly word yesterday: Environs. That's going in the list with 'Countermand' as one of the nastiest words in the language.

      Yeah, but 'environs' is easy...ie:

I was in the environs on the allotment yesterday, when suchandsuch happened.

      See

Ah, well, keep em peeled. I feel someone will have success with todays word.

Ollie, what if the person who sets the word of the day, updates their original post with how many grapes managed to use said word in a thread that day...did that make sense? then maybe we could see who set the most befuddling word.

I was reading something yesterday which included the word "trunnions" which I quite liked, and I've heard/read the word "lackadaisical" on several occasions recently.

A dictionary site I use has a "word of the day" whenever you open it up. Today's word is:

          redolent\RED-uh-luhnt\ , adjective:
1.Having or exuding fragrance; scented; aromatic.2.Full of fragrance; odorous; smelling (usually used with 'of' or 'with').3.Serving to bring to mind; evocative; suggestive; reminiscent (usually used with 'of' or 'with').

I was thinking of keeping a tally on the first post, but decided against it as it would require regular updating if the words were done every day. But as it didn't take off in Biblical proportions I guess I'll update it.
No point relying on the word chooser because some people may forget to do it, or just not have time.

The quantaversal light from the dim light bulb was barely enough to help her decide whether or not she actually liked the shade of green the room had been painted.

well...how's that for a first attempt???

10 out of 10 for effort, but to complete the task you need to put it in another post. I find it fun to read a post and spot someone dropping the word of the day into it because not everyone in there will realise why they used it!

I know it's a little late in the day for this one, but I just discovered it.

Word of The Day 17th October:

                          lucifugal
                          adj-
                          Avoiding or repelled by light

E.g. "I wouldn't plant your chillies in the shade, they're far from lucifugal"

I take it you were too busy this morning fighting ladies whilst they slept?

I understood that sentence up until the word "fighting" then I lost it.
