Factor 50 gives 8 hrs protection ... I am not in the sun for 8 hrs, so I don't need it.

We need some sun exposure, in order to produce Vitamin D (which protects against other cancers, inc. bowel cancer)
Factor 50, thought that was for babies and martians lol, factor 15 for me even though I have been at work in a quarry all weekend wearing a hard hat and a hi vis romper suit. Not burnt, just nicely burnished thank you.

My daughter went on a few archaeological digs at Silchester. The burnt semi-circle between shorts and top (everyone had one!) was called a Silchester Smile!

I remember getting heat stroke every year and it was total misery. We lived in Paignton and family would come to stay every summer, us kids would be put on camp beds wherever we could be fitted in - feeling so ill and not even having your own room to be miserable in was awful. Hat, sun block, umbrella, plenty of shade and fluids for me now. . .unless I'm gardening or fishing of course!

Whether you think you can or whether you think you can't, you are probably right.

ME? I never burn but go a nice shade of brown it must be in my genes (Greek/North African from the Romans?) I'm darker than my Indian neighbour at the moment?
The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

I had relatives that lived in plymouth and we used to visit them after shopping in plymouth. I think some still live there although my Auntie Dol and uncle Epp died long ago. ( Dads brother and wife )

i sat out and did some studying - i am also a little red, and yes i did put on sunscreen.

i have been burnt too much as a child to sit out for any length of time.

Meant to have rain tonight - which is good for the garden, same temps forecast tomorrow.

i am hoping hubster is going to dig me a veg bed tomorrow but he is driving back from dover as we speak and is not due in till after midnight, so he might be a bit tired to entertain a bit of digging.

Have not seen much of the sun today as stupidly invited my parents around for a BBQ, that meant I had to clean the house for my mothers arrival and the white glove test!!!! I tend not to burn, the only two times I have were snorkelling in borneo (forgot to put sun cream on my bum where the bikini finishes - ouch) and rhubarb shins in Morrocco! Never mind I will have to get out there tomorrow as there is weeding to be done!

Up until a couple of years ago and just stayed inside when it was sunny. Then I started selling my hand made jewellery and spent loads of time at craft fairs, kept using factor 40 or above was mostly in the shade.

This year I've actually been out in the garden loads, still using the factor 40 frequently each day, my new wide brimmed sun hat is on the way and I do tend to come in for at least one hour during the hottest part of the day to give myself a rest and so far I seem to be coping. I even seem to have a bit of colour on my arms! First time in my life I haven't been milk bottle white or lobster red! Of course, that could just be dirt!
Snap, standing at fairs outside worked for me as well!, Till 15 years ago i couldnt go outside in the sun without getting blisters from it on a hot day, i was realy bad with the sun, but after 15+ years of standing outside under a bright white stall, every week in the summer at model aeroplane shows im cured.

i didnt go to any last year so this year, i only seem to get a bit sunburnt , so stupidly a few weks ago i bought an old escort cabriolet, now i get sunburnt again, maybe the car will cure me again

I put mine on this morning then went to nans to put stuff in her gatden. Was out there for 2 hours, then when I go home I had heat bumps all over my chest!
So I put t-shirt on for rest of the day.
I do go brown and hate looking pasty.
My children don't leave the house without faactor 40 on.

Going BROWN is all to the good, but some of us go straight to red, THAT is what should be avoided, especially for kids. Pity they didn't realise this when I was little. So far no probs, but.......

I've actually been very good, this weekend. I'm still ill and so the hottest part of the day saw me flat out kitty cuddling. A less hazardous activity!
