    • Good afternoon.

Pearl looks very alert, cosy and happy.

Yesterday was not a good day and I hardly slept last night.

This morning I was up and showered early. I visited my brother in law who seems even frailer, if that is possible. He is also having serious problems with his hearing, which is not helping matters.

When I left his flat I called at our doctors and managed to make him an appointment for his ears syringing next month. I also asked for something to be added to his notes so that if the surgery tries to ring him for anything they know that he is having hearing problems and to speak up and have patience. All his texts already come to my mobile and I found out, much to my surprise, last time he was in hospital that I he had put me down as his next of kin.

I also, eventually, got a friend to witness my "Advance Decision". I wrote it in the early days of Covid but never got it witnessed. Now it is signed and witnessed, it is a legal document stating what care I do and do not want in various circumstances if ever I am unable to communicate. I'm going to run several copies off and put them in various places, including having one added to my medical notes.

All in all a relatively productive day.

I also got my new driving licence. Having seen the thankfully tiny photo I shall be keeping that hidden away.

      • Grory hop done, noticed rhubarb didn't buy any though.

Not a fan of hotX buns, not sure why.
Anyway it's lovely when the sun is out but that wind has a nip.
Had a look around the garden which is very saturated and even puddly grass

Sorry having to tell you this GF, but the photos on driving licences are a fair size not tiny in the least
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

          • Afternoon!
Busy day which has run away with me!. Still not got all the jobs done which were planned but it’s Friday evening and I want a break from the ‘needs to be done’ list.

Pearl is a lovely name for your dog CG…I had a bunny called pearl…but she was a ring registered ‘Pearl Netherlands Dwarf’ colour.
Slight reject for breeding as she was a bit too big for breeding purposes, but that was my gain for sure.

Thanks for your recipe MH…might try that next time.

Snoop- the average price per litre for diesel today is 2.32 euro . Not at all funny as it takes 5 litres just to go and fill up and return home..hence the shopping . I hear Spain is capping/ subsiding you?

Looks like the forecast for the next few days is no rain, so I’m hoping we can get back out there and carry on with the clearing/ tidying and hopefully some shredding!

Enjoy your evening peeps. Clocks change tomorrow night and one week today is Good Friday…lots of landmark dates this week.

OH is at work this morning so I shall be dog walking(no limping today but won't go far) then shopping for mum and popping over there. Weather looks to be a showery sort of day. Hopefully weather permitting we will be able to tackle a bit more sawing up of tree branches

Brew anyone? Or am I too early?

              • Morning CG and all.

Never too early for a brew, CG, ta muchly.

Bright and crisp out this morning. I'm a day ahead of myself. When I woke up I wondered why the clocks hadn't adjusted to BST and only realised it was Saturday, not Sunday when I looked at the PC timestamp. Oh well, better to gain a day than lose one, which I seem to do quite frequently. Winter days seem to drag, and yet the weeks whizz. Strange.

                  • Morning all.

Top-up brews available for anyone as wants one.

Yes, Nicos, the Spanish govt has cut VAT on petrol diesel from 21 to 10% and is subsidising diesel for professional hauliers, farmers and the like (20 cents off per litre). You're paying a really steep price, for sure. We're off out to do a bit of building materials shopping and to visit the medieval fair in the next village. Will top up with petrol while we're out at our co-op, which also has cut-price fuel for members. Good reason to join.

Right, better go and get togged up so as not to frighten the locals with my country wear!

Good to hear Pearl's on the mend, CG. And hang on in there, GF. Sending you and anyone who wants one a cyber hug.

                    Have a great day, everyone.

Cool and breezy out probably rain later depending on which forecast you read. A mix of domestics, shopping and hobbies today.

                        • Good morning.

A rubbish night's sleep. I did get a couple of hours here and there. Inbetween I did several Italian duolingo lessons, played a few computer games and streamed a couple of episodes of A woman of substance while munching chocolate.

I've just had a Marks & Spencers delivery. An early birthday present from one of my nieces. I had to open it as on the box it said some items might be perishable. They're not. It's chocolate!!

I'm trying to decide what to cook for tonight. There's very little main meal food in the fridge apart from a pack of dry cured smoked bacon, but I can think of a few interesting items in the freezer: Scallops, Stew, Chicken legs, Sausage rolls. Various frozen vegetables and fruit. I still seem to be struggling to get my head around the fact that I can just jump in the car and shop, or go anywhere, whenever I want.

                          • Mornin n’alln’all
Good grief!…sunshine after a night of rain. That’s what we like to see eh?….at least I can potter outside so long as I wear my muckers.
OH is frustrated though as the rain wasn’t forecast when he checked and he’d planned to cut the field….another day or two won’t harm it.

Ta muchly for the brew whoever left it by the bedroom door. Nice not having to get up when it’s chilly!

We had a wonderful surprise when we opened the blind….two…yes two…Red squirrels leaping around in our old wild cherry tree. Clearly flirting!
We’ve never seen one in our garden before so this is a first…but TWO!!!!!! Fantastic. They were glowing in the morning sun..really deep and rich orange with surprisingly dark tails.
Hope they stay nearby…I just shows how important tree arial runways are for red squirrels…they were leaping from one tree to another. Oh was talking about trimming back our massive apple tree, partly to reduce the crop and also to allow more light into the
garden….but I think he may well have changed his mind!

Glad you gained a day MH …use it wisely!

Snoop - have a fantastic time at the medieval fair…I have to admit that I’m a tad jealous!…I love the feel of a medieval fair…do share some piccies please?

If it rains then I’ll be doing some family tree research…a distant relative who lives in Australia contacted me last night with some details he could do with checking out. He’s almost 90 and we met up about 25 years ago with my mom…and he arranged a meet-up with a few other distant relatives…one of whom’s mom turned out to be the cousin of my mom’s mom. Sounds a long way removed but it’s not really, and you could really see similar facial features! All connected via Dunbarton and Bute in the 1700s.
One guy was talking to his best friend about the meet up and showed his friend the shared tree…only for him to looked shocked and say that one of the lines was his!. Best friends for over 50 years and didn’t realise the had the same great grandparents!
Tis a small world isn’t it?

Enjoy your day peeps…I’m feeling positively chirpy this morning ( squirrel powered I think!)…so sending loads of smiles and hugs to everyone who fancies one or the other…or both!

                              • Good night all.
Just been watching a very moving parade for the beginning of holy week...
Huge crowds , candle light procession, drum beats and carrying the statue of the cruxifiction.
It was a perfect evening, dry and mild.
Tomorrow is our last day here, so enjoying the last of it.
                                Have a good night all.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
