  • Any fellow insomniacs around this morning?

I was so tired all day yesterday afternoon that I kept falling asleep. Now I am wide awake again. A vicious circle!

I have just done a couple of Duolingo lessons (Italian), a couple of puzzles and had milk and chocolate. What next? I know it's cold outdoors, and I can hear the wind and rain. My brain should be telling my body to try and hibernate.

    I will try again .........

GF I never sleep well but I wouldn't go online or start doing things because I'd wake myself even more. I can't sleep in the day either unless I'm ill.

Weather looks a bit dire today who's got the nice weather ?

Kettle is on if anyone wants a cuppa?

      • Morning all.

Fresh pot of tea on the go in the kitchen. For some reason I slept an extra hour last night. I usually sleep seven hours almost to the minute, but last night I slept eight. GF, if you always want chocolate when you wake in the night, perhaps you need more magnesium? (Chocolate is rich in magnesium). It is also in nuts, seeds, and dark leafy greens, and is good for sleep.

The good weather is not here, CG, the wind is blowing a gale and rain is beating against the windows.

              • Good morning all, gusting wind and lashing rain here, it's been like this since yesterday,
In spite of the bad weather myself and my friend are off out to our line dancing,
It's a nice social outlet. A bit of exercise and a bit of fun,
Catch up later have a good day,

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                • Morning all.

It's not me hogging the good weather, CG. In fact, I'm not sure there's any to be had anywhere near any of us.

Good luck with Duolingo, GF. I started Italian on it and got monumentally bored. How are you getting on? Perhaps I should give it another go.

Work on the cards this morning and a shopping trip this afternoon. Visitors arriving tomorrow but more importantly, we have run out of dog biscuits.

                  Have a great day, everyone.

                  • Good morning.

What a grim, dismal morning it is. Rain, wind, and only 4°C. It's certainly not tempting me to go outside unless I have to.

I think I've had about 6 hours of sleep in the end, which is enough. At least I won't be dropping to sleep this afternoon, and hopefully, I can try to start and reset my body clock.

mothhawk, having looked at a list of magnesium rich foods, I doubt that I'm lacking in magnesium, I just think that milk and chocolate are, and always have been, my ultimate comfort foods.

The local hospital has rung me twice this morning regarding my brother in law. He has now cancelled an appointment twice. They have made him another for next month, and I am going to try my best to sort out his problems and encourage him to attend.

My online shop is due between 11am and noon.

I'm now happily drinking my second mug of coffee.

Snoop Puss, I'm only on day 30 of the Duolingo Italian. I do find the creature on the "icon" to be really annoying, and feel as if the lessons are aimed more at children, but I'm not ready to give up yet. My sister did say that she did it for two years and then went to Italy. She then, much to her partner's amusement, supposedly ordered them two white coffees in a cafe/bar and got two cups (not glasses) of white wine. At that point she swopped to French!

I hope that somebody gets to see the missing sun today. I don't think it will be us.

                    • Wild wet and windy here, just rain but the snow is closing most of the high road, 12 foot drifts at Glen Shee seemingly. Got the fire lit, not planning on going anywhere as we nipped to the shops yesterday 5 degrees at the moment, though it doesn't feel that cold, I must ne getting used to it.

                      • greenishfing, I think the only thing I'd be able to order in Italian would be a jumper and a backpack. I gave up after about five days of jumpers and backpacks.

Well the weather seems better than yesterday's Chandrathon. Not been out yet but I think it will feel cool. I'm hoping to tackle the chores then get outside, I still have eleventy trillion bulbs to put in

A Sunny dry day here pity about it being so cold with it. A second mug of tea would go down well just now CG thanks.

                            Enjoy your day.

Chandrathon indeed, CG. I saw photos and footage. Looked awful. Hope everyone has survived and your gardens are unscathed. How's the new windsock, Bren? The wind has stilled here, but it's perishing cold out.

We've got a friend arriving today, so looking forward to that. Plenty to do meanwhile and a bit of tidying required as well, so better get a move on.

                              Have a great day, everyone.

                              • Good morning.

It's 1°C, very still and frosty here. The sun has come out to play but it doesn't appear capable of providing any warmth. Still, a welcome sight

I am just waiting for the heating to start warming things up. I'll then grab a fleece and go make some coffee

Snoop Puss, I know what you mean about buying a jumper or a backpack, and they must be red or black. I'm wondering if I'm getting to old to try and learn a new language. I'll keep trying for now. It's something to occupy my brain when I can't sleep.

I'm due an Amazon delivery later today, another consequence of a sleepless night

Coffee made, help yourselves. We seem to have some fog appearing now.

Yuk! Yuk! Yuk! I had somehow managed to put a teabag in my mug of coffee. Revolting! Should I be worried? The last time my sister, the nurse, and I had a conversation about dementia she "reassured" me that, in our family, we all die of physical diseases well before the age when it becomes common.

Oh, the joys of getting older ..... or not

Coffee now remade! It tastes great this time. No nasty surprises.
