Good morning all, it's a cold, frosty and the sun is shining.
Our day went well yesterday as all the family came into mine.
Lovely to hear all had a good time.
Today is our 61st wedding anniversary so it well be another family affair.

Good morning.

I first awoke at 3am. The TV on the wall at the end of the bed was still on and I had obviously fallen asleep half sitting up. I think that I had been watching an old "Queen" performance. I have just woke up again now with frozen toes. They were stuck out from under the bottom of the duvet. I have turned the thermostat up and I'm sitting cross legged in bed attempting to defrost them before I go make coffee. I plan on bringing the coffee back to bed and reading. One of my sisters got me the latest book my favourite author, Lee Child. I do seem to have got my love of reading back.

It's only 1°C and there is a frost and some weak sunshine. We have a week of cold weather forecast but no rain .... or snow. I've just realised that on nearly every soppy Christmas film it starts to snow at the end.

It's just as well that I culled all the chocolate from my Sainsbury's order as it may take me while to get through all the chocolate that I got as presents. There is even a small stash of it at the side of the bed.

I now have coffee and my toes have defrosted

I was just thinking that when I've finished the Lee Child book I'll send it back to my sister as he is her favourite author too. Obviously I'll order my postage online and have it picked up This made me realise that I no longer visit the post office at all. I used to hate going and queuing, but there was no alternative for parcels. As for the horrific car tax queues, after having to hunt out hard copies of insurance certificates and MOTs, the less said the better. The queue in the main Post Office proceeded at a snail's pace due to the staff trying to sell you their car insurance instead of moving on to the next customer. What do people use the post office for these days?

A toast to cariann88, it sounds as if she is making a lot of people very happy this Christmas.

mothhawk, I've never seen the space station either. I must keep an eye out for it.

Morning all.

Leftovers for breakfast here. Slice of cold pork in a Yorkshire pud with lime and chilli chutney. If I'm honest, I enjoyed it as much as the real dinner...

It poured in the night and is very muddy underfoot. Still drizzling, but we're going to have to persuade Jack he is not a water wuss as we're off out for lunch and he'll be on his own indoors. He's already up to all kinds of mischief because he's bored and we're here. It'll be terrible while we're out.

Better get a move on. Mince pies to make for a bit of pud after lunch.

Hope you start to feel better very soon, LD. And enjoy that chocolate, Carrie. You deserve it.

Afternoon all,was asleep till almost lunch time,well done Carrie very commendable,they lucky to have you,also there is a lot of happiness to be had,when you make another person happy,Congratulations MR & MRS bramble how great is that ,feel a bit better today,what time i have been awake for anyway,just had the left overs,did not enjoy it,will have the christmas pud latter on,as for mice pies before breakfast,we had a thin bit of christmas cake just for taste,sounds like we all had a good day,Nicos afternoon sleep is a must as we get older,my DIL came in and said oh you both awake now and laughed,said we had about 3 hours ,nice host was i not,bless her,she tieded up and loaded the dish washer,am hoping to sow some onion seeds over the week end,they are out off date,so have 2 chances,i will no doubt get some sets when they are available,how i miss Wilkos,

Really quiet here. We used to see children outside on Boxing Day, wheeling new prams or riding bikes. Haven't seen that for years.
My eldest GG has recently bought her first house. She hosted yesterday for the first and last Christmas at home. She catered for 15 and it was marvellous!
My Turkey is out of the oven. I'm hoping it isn't dry. I'm saving the giblets for Lord Ginger

Absolutely exhausted today so just lying on the couch enjoying another afternoon of doing nothing. It was very strange yesterday not having to host but mother in law put on a lovely spread.

Good morning.

I'll call it morning as I have had a couple of hours sleep, I think.

It's 4am and I've been wide awake for an hour and I'm trying to think of something to lure me back to sleep. No bright ideas yet. Should I get up and make a drink, or something to eat? Try reading a book? Maybe I should set my alarm for 15 minutes time. There's nothing like an alarm going off to convince my brain that I am still sleepy and don't want to get out of bed. But that would probably wake Mr GF up

I've just found a really nice oversized hoodie in a sale that I think one of my nieces will love as part of her birthday present in 10 days time. It is now ordered

It is now 5am. I'm going to put my own oversized hoodie on and go and make myself a mug of coffee.... and maybe a crumpet.

Very frosty here this morning… it is -5.6°C this morning …very brrrr for sure and only set to rise to 2°C at its warmest later. ( I’ve just realised where to find the ° sign…so I’m trying it out! Small things eh which please….. hold down zero and slightly move your finger to the right or left - but still on the button…and the ° comes up…..for those who don’t already know)

Tomorrow morning we need to be at the port at stupido’clock.fr so it’s going to be a rather frosty trip in the dark .
So- last day with the family which is sad, but we’ll certainly make the most of it
