Aw bramble, so sorry to hear that... it always seems to happen around this time.

Mrs G was baking this morning at 7:00am (mincemeat crumble slices .. yum) I took my daughter to work for 6:00 am (not done that for 5 years!) to save the hassle of driving later on.

HHad lunch and thats me done for today.

at least its brighter today here, yesterday was dark and dismal all day.

I hope you are all supporting each other. It's such a difficult time of year to have to make arrangements, too.

          • Afternoon all.

A loud groan from me to, Snoop.

I've made bread this morning, and cooked sausages in the oven at the same time so there will be one less job tomorrow ( and cold sausages for tea tonight. ) I also made a Genoese sponge to have instead of Christmas cake, of which I am not a fan. I'll fill it with whipped cream and lemon curd.

And I had a delivery - 2 philadelphus bare root shrubs, free from t&m, only paid postage which was £5.95 so a bargain. I've put both in pots till I decide where they will go (yes, it was an impulse buy), both have very good fibrous roots so should do well.

I'm expecting a visit from my niece this afternoon, then I am all done for the day.

Really sorry to hear your news bramble. I know it was expected, but it still hits hard doesn’t it.xx

We are almost ready for Xmas. The last of the pressies to wrap and a simple snowman and snowballs to make from icing to put on the slab of Xmas cake we’ve had in the freezer since the Autumn.

                              • Good morning and Merry Christmas.

It's great to gear that you have already had a wonderful day, cariann88

Jay22, how on earth have you managed to avoid wine and chocolate? Christmas cake and traditional Christmas grub I can understand. The only traditional thing on our menu today will be Christmas pudding at some point. Don't shut the world out, make them a cup of tea and have a laugh with your visitors. There are no hard and fast rules on how, when, or if, we celebrate.

Some of the Christmases that bring back the fondest memories for me are not the conventional family Christmases. It is always the people and/or atmosphere that is the most memorable thing, rather than the food (even when I have spent forever slaving over a hot stove)

I think, at least temporarily, that I've given up on more sleep this morning. I'm sure that there will be lots of children wide awake by now, all wondering if Father Christmas has been

I think that it's grab my fleece time and make coffee. Any orders?
