        • I'm sorry to hear your sad news, Bramble.

I've had a day of deliveries today. This morning, a box that said live plants on it. I opened it to find three Christmas cacti in perfect condition and just bursting into flower.

Later I got two parcels from M and S. One was a big bouquet of flowers and the other I opened to peek at as I thought it might need to be 'fridged. No, fridge not necessary. It looks like a selection of various Belgian chocolates. Quickly closed up.

I checked the Royal Mail app ..... yet again ...... about an hour ago. My parcel had suddenly reappeared and was on the map again. I tracked the van and it has now delivered. Confirmed by my sister.

I'm so happy that I don't have to make another batch of puddings According to the app my Australian bound puds have also, supposedly, now arrived.

Lottie, chocolate cake and brandy sauce..... I've got to try it, it sounds amazing.

          • Morning all.

Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday, LD. And what a nice selection of presents, GF.

Supposedly mostly bright here today but it's looking very dull at the moment. Only a light frost this morning.

Good news, as I've got errands to run in the village today and won't have to wait long for the car to defrost. Wonder what state the dirt track will be in... Dire, I imagine. Will try and fit a visit to the fishmonger in if I can manage it.

Other than that, it's another working day here. But I've promised myself mince pies today, so that will be cheering. They didn't have any cream in the shops the other day (so no buttermaking I'm afraid, MH), but I do have crème fraîche and mascarpone in the fridge. So one of those will have to do. I'm guessing the mascarpone.

            Have a great day, everyone.

A misty start to the day but no rain predicted so hope your snow doesn't arrive Snoop. We only 2 more prezzies to hand deliver then we're done. It might be time for us to get around to decorating for Christmas we seem to get later each year.

Sorry to read about your brother in law Bramble a sad time for you all xx

              Enjoy your day

              • Mornin n’alln’all

Frosty start to the day here too.
House almost ready for our family…
I impulse purchased some red roses for my daughter’s bedroom yesterday- only 1.99€ from Lidl!..couldn’t believe the price.
Flowers here are very expensive…in a florist the same bunch would have been at least 8€???they were the only red ones left so clearly had my name on them. Would have been rude not to offer to let them come home with us

Off to collect them from the ferry at lunchtime… getting very excited

Have a great day at the shops Snoop..hope you get your fish…and cream.
The mince pies sound lovely…I’ve held off making mine until my granddaughter arrives as she loves baking. We have some ikea gingerbread dough defrosting. I’d bought too much last year but thank goodness I had as they weren’t selling it this year.

I do need to get some pressies wrapped before they arrive…nowhere will be safe from an exploring almost 5yr old

Whats everyone else up to this weekend?
                Whatever it is…have a great day x

                • Morning Bren…sorry - didn’t see you there.
Our mistletoe ( aka ‘Snoggy stuff’) has already curled up, but I thought I’d wait for our granddaughter to help with collecting more . Good job we have plenty in our old apple tree!
Talk about drying up…our Xmas tree is starting to show signs of drying up. The second one , which has stood unwrapped in the garage, is still looking great…ready for little hands to decorate it
But yes…the woodstove does make the room really hot . We bought the size up from what we needed for the room with the intention of leaving doors open to the rest of the house if it gets too hot…but powerful enough to cope with -18C if needs be. It does save on needing to put the central heating on.

                  • Morning all.

The sun has come out to play here and melted away the light frost. A bit of sun does make everywhere look much more cheerful in midwinter. Solstice tomorrow! Yay!

Sorry to hear such sad news, Bramble. There's never a good time to lose family, but Christmas must be the worst.

My last present should be delivered today. The one that was out of stock. Phew! Just need to print some lemon curd labels and all my gifts are done. One final grory hop and I'm done till the new year.

                    • Good morning all...dull and damp.
We are going to the flower shop,to pick up some potted plants for our families graves
We may get in to the hospital for a quick visit if it's feasible.
Not a lot else happening as we are just waiting now.

Nicos, I canactually feel your excitement...a child in the house at Christmas makes it magical.
I hope you both spend many hours making memories.
                      Have a good day all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                        • Good morning.

I started to post at about 6am, after being awake for a couple of hours. I don't know what happened, but somehow over 4 hours disappeared.

The heating is on and I'm happily drinking coffee now.

Nicos, I can feel your excitement from here at the thought of your family reunion. Not long now ........ Just imagine how excited the almost 5 year old is

I think I'll take pictures of my bouquet of flowers, and cacti that arrived in boxes yesterday to show the senders that they arrived in great condition.

Mr GF is still asleep at the moment. Even James Martin on T V (ITV+1) hasn't permeated through his snores yet.

I've just taken some Bay scallops out of the freezer to use later

I've just had an email to say that the item that was suddenly unavailable from T & M and has, following a phone call from them, been replaced with something else, is out for delivery today. Great service .... presuming it arrives. I only have one parcel now, still to be delivered. The little Christmas pudding that I gave to the postie yesterday. According to the app it should arrive on Monday. It's not a problem if it is late as the recipient is not expecting it.

                            • There might not have been as many individual participants as in previous years, LD, but I thought last year's GR was a great success. Those that did join in posted a lot! A lot of fun thanks to you and GF.

Errands in the village completed. Neighbours have dropped off some shopping for us. About to have lunch. And then I ought to do some work but will probably end up falling asleep instead.

                              Have a great afternoon, everyone.

                              • Good afternoon, havent posted for three or four days have been occupied with other things, sun is shining just now and one of the grandsons is coming down to put out the Christmas lights for me ,I usually have the front garden decorated with them but really didnt feel like putting them out this year, so my grandson has offered to put them out for me, and another grandson is going to come down tomorrow anxious replace a roof tile for me, I have been getting some water in where an old vent pipe went through the roof, should have been replaced years ago, when I was a bit fitter, I could do it myself but at the moment I am still having a problem with my big toe, so not the best thing to be doing, walking up a roof, nice to see lottie and burnie back on, I wish you both well.
bramble sorry to read that about your brother in law, a sad thing at any time of year, will be thinking of you,
I have been waiting on an adjustable bed being delivered, it was supposed to come Thursday or Friday, but evidently didn't appear, but wont be complaining delivery folk must be under a lot of pressure at this time of year, right grandson has appeared so need to go, hope you find something to make you smile abd that you pass the smiles on
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
