  • Morning, still pitch black but can’t sleep. I’ve been awake half the night.
Sorry to hear about your puncture Nicos but glad you managed to get things sorted and home. Didn’t realise it’s the law in France to stop and offer help if someone is in trouble on the road. I must admit I’d have a heart attack if someone stopped if I was in that situation. Bit of a coward me!😂
Hope you and Mr GF managed a good nights sleep GF, you both deserve it.
Well I’m going to try and grab an hour or so in the land of nod. Catch you all later. x

    • Mornin n’alln’all
Hope you have managed to nod off again Jay and Mr GF had a lovely snuggly night…

I’ve just realised that it’s this Saturday night that the clocks go back an hour . Cor blimey- that came around rather quickly!

Apart from sorting out the tyre( probably two new ones) I’ve not really got plans for today. At least it’s not raining so more gathering of leaves will most certainly be achieved!
No real plans for the weekend either, so it looks like I can crack on with domestics and gardening!

Anyone got exciting plans for the next few days?

Whatever you get up to…enjoy your day!…Those pesky smiles are at it again Snoop…..what on earth were they getting up to this morning?

      • Morning all.

Hope you managed to get another bit of shut-eye, Jay.

Jack is trying to have a good-boy day. Not quite succeeding, but he is giving it a go. Perhaps the smiles were enjoying my pleasure and relief, Nicos. Good luck with the tyres.

There are several ways today can go here, but all of them are tedious in the extreme. Already looking forward to bedtime! Nothing for it but to get on with it.

        Have a great day, everyone.

No exciting plans here Nicos just the usual mix of domestics, visiting, going for a stroll messing around in the garden and my craft room.

          enjoy your day.

          • Good Morning All Nothing exciting here as usual, but it's sunny and cold - ideal leaf gathering weather so that's my job for today. The bistro set is back in the shed so I can organise the patio pots too. Just need some inclination Have a good day

              • Good afternoon, dull cold and wet here today, but I intend going out to the greenhouse for a short time, it really is time I got started again, this sitting about doing nothing is not what I want, so as OH is beginning to move a bit better, its time I got busy again that over three weeks since I have done anything in the garden, cutting the grass and turning the compost heap doesn't count, so heading out now. Enjoy your day and remember to pass h on your smiles

                • Good afternoon.

I was up early after a good sleep and gave Mr. GF one lot of his antibiotics, no problems. I attempted to wake him up again at 8 am to take his next lot of tablets, and he couldn't sit up, wouldn't move, and was grunting and wailing instead of talking. I rang our doctors, and they sent a nurse practitioner out. He had improved quite a bit by the time she arrived. When she sounded his chest, she said that it was clear but to finish his antibiotics. It seems the penicillin has beaten the pneumonia! The district nurse called a bit later to re-dress his pressure sores. His replacement hearing aids then arrived in the post I have now ordered him a riser/recliner as he really struggled to get out of his ordinary recliner last night.

As he is staying in bed today, I have now plugged in and turned the TV on in the bedroom. It is on the wall at the end of the bed. We bought it probably a few years ago but have very rarely used it. Having now investigated it further, I am very impressed with it. Mr GF has been catching up on a couple of things that he missed when he was in hospital. He seems reasonably comfortable and happy now. I think I'll ask him if he fancies an ice cream lolly next.

I hope your day isn't too tedious, Snoop. Good wishes to everybody else.

Rary, it seems that every year, there are fewer and fewer clocks to alter manually. Even the car does it without my help now.

Ice cream has gone down very well

Very small glass of wine is going down even better I did ask Mr GF if he fancied a sarnie and got no for an answer. So I made one for myself, with some cherry tomatoes and olives on the side, and sat down next to him. "What's that?"He asked. "MY sandwich," I replied. Guess who ate half of it (as expected).

A glass of wine for me too now!

                  • ^Eating and drinking is a good sign, GF. Sorry to hear about the difficult start to the day, but good news about the pneumonia. Poor man, he's really been in the wars recently.

Mr Snoop likes his riser-recliner. Great inventions. Not sure what we'd do without it. I made a mistake when buying this one, though. Next time I'll get one with two motors so you can move the head and foot rests separately.

The day wasn't as tedious as I expected. Though some of the tedium has been postponed till Monday, so I haven't got away with it entirely.

I'm inspired to look at our dwindling selection of bottles, see if there's anything I won't resent us drinking. Not too expensive so I don't feel we should be eating something fancier; not so cheap that I wish I'd had a beer instead!

                    Have a nice evening, everyone.

                    • Evening all!
Good to hear people are feeling a bit chirpier this evening.

Darn Snoop- just enjoy a nice bottle…you can always replace it…you do need to have a few luxuries with all that you are doing at the moment. See it as a well earned reward and don't feel guilty

I’ve had a very pottering sort of day and the drive is almost clear of leaves again.
Two new tyres are ordered and will be fitted by the garage during its service prior to its MOT next week. Hard to believe that a stone could render a tyre unrepairable isn’t it? Ah well.

Cloudy, dull and damp…a nice change from pouring rain and gusty winds!

Certainly more clearing up in the garden today- we actually seem to be making a dint in it!!!! Nice when it starts coming together isn’t it?

We’ve just finished off a really lovely pot of local honey which we bought at a vide Grenier. Fortunately they put their contact details on the pot so I was thinking it would be nice to go and see if she has a couple more to sell. I’ll give her a bell at a more reasonable hour.

I’ve just had a poke of my parkin..and it’s suddenly started softening up…we may need to check it out for real though with a nice cuppa later.

Anyone fancy a brew now? Kettle’s boiled…..help yourselves.

Enjoy your day folks…and remember to share those lovely smiles of yours.

I know what you mean about having less clock to alter we, only really have the one in the bedroom and the cooker. Our Westminster chiming mantel clocks stopped working and its looking like it will stay that way.

Hope MrGF has a better start to his day today xx

                          • Morning all.

It was a cheap one, Nicos, but very decent. One of our 'house' wines, Sauvignon blanc, a whopping €1.60 a bottle. I'll buy a few more next time I'm at that supermarket (it's a co-op chain, small shops but all their produce is sourced locally near their home base).

A honey outing sounds like a nice treat, by the way. Might you get to see the hives?

Dull and drizzly so far today. But I've got quite a bit of indoor stuff to do, tidying and shifting stuff. I'd throw a lot of it out. Mr Snoop wants to keep it. 'We can put it on the bedroom floor for now', he says. I'm sure we'll manage to keep our tempers, but perhaps only just!

Right, on that note, better start the day with a walk with Jack.

                            Have a great day, everyone.

Edited: My mum had a big chiming wall clock. Cost a fortune to get it repaired when it stopped working. And half the problem was finding someone who could do it. The cost made the clock itself seem like very good value for money.

                              • Evening!
We managed to track down the farm selling honey and bought several pots. Sadly they weren’t able to show us their hives this time - of which they have 40!
Nothing quite like raw, unpasteurised local honey made earlier this summer from local wildflowers.
I even got one pot for our neighbours for the next time they look after Hibou!

Just a heads up…remember your clocks going back tonight!…Will you grab an extra hour before going to bed or have an extra snuggle under the duvet in the morning? We are forecast a frost here tonight so my choice will be the latter!

Nattie Nattie as my Swedish friend says…
