    • Afternoon all Smile Well it's 12.30 so officially afternoon now.

Hubby's team had a marathon match yesterday evening. He left here at 18.15 and didn't get back until 23.15 They had to play 50 games on just one table so it took a loooong time. He was the only one who won one of his three rounds and the team lost. But he was the best player and is now top of their team's leaderboard. That didn't help him because he felt quite despondent and it called for Bombay mix before bed (always a bad move, peg the quilt down time!)

He's gone playing table tennis this morning with a team mate in his garage. Team mate lost all three of his games yesterday so he was pretty despondent too. Hubby just got back and said he lost all his games, but his right arm has been bothering him (tendon above elbow I think) so he wasn't at his best. Not the arm he had his flu jab in. They went for a pint and he said it went straight to his head - good job he walked there and back!

I hope Mr GF is improving this morning and you got some sleep last night, greenishfing, It must be so worrying for you.

Nicos, My sister thinks I'm absolutely crazy to be doing this now I'm retired. She's been happily settled in her northern town, in her Grandma-in-law's old house, with two of her four offspring very close and the other two within an hour or so's drive. I guess eight grandchildren probably helps She seems to spend a lot of time travelling for child-sitting in various locations and they all actually go on holiday together (camping to save money) which is my idea of hell. Twenty plus adults, ten or more children and four dogs in six tents and a campervan in a field somewhere? ... No thanks! But this is hubby's dream project and I'm on board with it, even though it's challenging ...

Off for a bite to eat now, once hubby has finished applying another coat of clear polyurathane varnish to the altered oak dining table. We need it for next Thursday when our friends come to visit. Stay well everyone.

      • Good afternoon, didn't realise I had missed the past 4 days, I have been so very busy, working hard and doing everything that OH asks/tells me to do, naw I wouldnt believe it either. I have been busy doing some shopping, have been down at the hospital to get my hearing aid repaired, held it in on Wednesday morning and still not got it back, no doubt sitting is some post office shelf, as in the past I have always received it within two days, the only good thing about it is when I say, what was that, I can see OH getting all het up, so saves on heating OH actually came down to the hospital with me, though just stayed in the car, unfortunately once we were back home she felt quiet sore, however we did manage to make the church coffee morning, then round for our flu and covid jags on Thursday, inbetween that I have been reading a three book sew that I selected on amazon, which I finished this morning, after which I went out and cut the grass, I have also started feeding the birds again, I had stopped it during the summer as it was attracting too many pigeons I was getting about,15 some days , so hopefully that stops, I also cut my grass this morninbg, which I think will be the last time this year.
Reading about the problems with computers, I never really have such problems, as I avoid updates, and if anyone hacks me, they might take sympathy on me when they see I'm skint, I dont have any monetary information on computers, there no need for it when you dont have it and OH doesn't use a computer, so my, sorry her money is safe. Enjoy the rest of the day and GF know that the two if you are in my prayers, God bless.
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

        • Hi all. I've been at the hospital since 11am, but just come home. Apart from briefly waking up for long enough to eat some soup and ice cream at lunchtime, Mr GF has been asleep. I don't even know if he was aware that I was there. I did manage to get about 3 hours sleep again last night. Worry always makes me not want to eat and sleep becomes more elusive than usual. He now has more problems healthwise. I am so worried, I just want to cry.

As I just don't want to eat, not even chocolate, I'll have a big glass of milk. I think that I might go back at about 6 for the last couple of hours of visiting (11am to 8pm) just in case he wakes up again. I'd hate him to think that I don't care. Thank you for all your kind thoughts.

          • We’re here for you when you need a shoulder.
Cry your heart out if it helps. We care about you very much x
Have you thought about maybe taking a selection of his favourite foods to share with him…bit like a picnic to pick at during the day?
That way you will at least manage to eat something too?

              • Might they let you sleep there overnight, GF, even if it's only in a chair? Given the fuss he's kicked up at hospitals in the past, saying you'd sort them out, I'm sure he must be aware of your reassuring presence.

                Thinking of you. xx

                  • Back again. I did go back to the hospital. Mr GF was still asleep, but just as I got there two porters turned up to take him for a chest Xray, bed and all. I went with them. Mr GF awoke. Had his Xray really quickly, still in his bed. When we got back to the ward he had some fruit and biscuits. Eventually he said he was sleepy again, he probably got no sleep in A & E last night, and promised to behave himself. I feel a lot happier now. I'm really glad I went back. It was so nice to see him awake and smiling.

                      • Hopefully, I will Jay. I've even taken some bread and homemade potted meat out of the freezer as my stomach seems to have relaxed slightly. Thanks again for all of your kindness everybody.

Nope. Just a gaping hole and a chunk of gauze to bite down on till I got home to stop the bleeding. Told to rinse three times a day with salt water and take a paracetamol for any discomfort. (I've not needed that). By next morning the hole was already closing. Mouths heal really fast.

GF, glad you're feeling a little more cheerful, hospitals are very stressful places, whether patient or visitor. You seem to care for everyone in your family. Is there nobody who can give you a bit of TLC?

My idea of Hell as well. I have camped on a very few occasions. A couple of decades ago, when Mr GF and I used to decide to go exploring we would usually throw a little two man tent in the car and set off through the chunnel. We would take airbeds and bedding, but no cooking equipment at all, at my insistence. I didn't mind camping, but for me holidays do not involve any cooking! Mostly we would stay in cheapish chain hotels, eat out, and meander through Europe. I do remember camping in Andorra overnight once and having a really good time, and another time, somewhere in southern France, where we ended up playing boules, or was it petanque, with a group of locals who befriended us and got us legless. Probably why I have rosé tinted memories. Not rose tinted enough to go on a trip like you describe though.
