  • mothhawk, have you used a full sized orange? You're tempting me to have a go too. How does it smell after 60+ years?

Yes, a regular orange. Not a navel orange that has the really thick skin. The old one still has a strong clove scent. It is hanging in my wardrobe just as it hung in my mother's and my grandmother's before her, to keep away clothes moths.

        • Mornin n’alln’all

The sploshy stuff has arrived here. Not heavy nor windy, so hopefully it’ll stop and I can get more gardening done.
Which reminds me…we never got around to buying a round bale of straw for covering the beds…we best get that sorted!

Anyone got exciting plans for the weekend?
It’s my OH’s burpday in 10 days so I need to get my head rattling as to how to celebrate!
Hopefully it’ll involve the camper. Whatever the weather, we always enjoy our outings in her.

Enjoy your day peeps- whatever you get up to!

          • Morning all.

About to head out with Jack. Very late by his standards, but I needed to get some work done first.

Plenty to keep me busy, including yet more errands in the village. A session of eyelid inspecting will be essential at some point today, though.

Right, better go and find that dog. He might be trying to make friends with a tractor...

            Have a great day, everyone.

Gusty wind and heavy rain here this afternoon so hopefully I'll be in doors by then and starting my new jigsaw puzzle. Do other have to go through the box a couple of times to find all the edge pieces ? don't say its just me.

              Enjoy your day

We had heavy rain and gusty wind earlier but now its all calm, calm before the storm perhaps.
Hoping to get outside and harvest the last of my beans and chop it all down. Was going to do it yesterday but I got stuck in tailbacks after a bad motorway accident .
Need to bring logs in too before the rain.
Noticed alot of birds ratching about for flies so I've put some food on the bird table, little coal tit and wren were first served.

I haven't done a jigsaw puzzle in years. But we always used to do that when I was a kid. I thought it was one of the rules of doing jigsaws. Completing the corners was one of the first triumphs, followed by doing the individual sides and then all of them.

                    • Good Morning All Been raining all night, but it's paused now and the wind is getting up. Whenever I've completed a jigsaw I put the edge pieces in a separate bag inside the box. I hope I'm not spoiling the fun for the next person. I know I love it when others have done the same. Have a good day

                      • Jigsaws…I look for the corner pieces first…pulling out edges as I go through them all a couple of times…then start trying to complete the edges first.
Then turn the rest the right way round and pick out a couple of sections which easily catch my eye….

Its still raining here…looks like it’s a ‘Domestic Goddess’ day for me then….
I can’t work out if, in a former life, I was either landed gentry and had servants to do all this for me ,or I was a servant and spent my life doing this for other people. I hate housework with a passion. Love to see it done though…it’s just the bit between getting myself motivated and completing the task which gets to me
Running two gites and all that entails seems a bit of a strange choice given my feelings about housework doesn’t it?

Anyway…I hope everyone affected by the high winds don’t have any damage to their property…. Fingers crossed for you x

                        • Good morning.

Not a bad night's sleep. I woke up a couple of times but managed to drop off again reasonably quickly.

It's neither rainy or windy at the moment although that is the forecast.

The central heating is on ...again. I'll try not to think about the bill, although I'm paying £35 a month less now than I was a couple of years ago and am in credit at the moment.

I've not done a jigsaw for years. The last one I did, Mary Berry recipe for raspberry roulade, put me off for life I think. When I'd finished it I gave it to my sister. She did it, and said she'd save it for her worst enemy! One of my sisters, the same one who used to throw the monopoly board in the air when she was losing, used to pinch a couple of pieces when we were children so that she could finish them.

I keep thinking it's Saturday for some reason. I've gained a day somehow.

My brother in law can't cope with the phone I got him, so I better sort that out for him, and order him another one.

                          • Afternoon, raining and breezy at the moment. Nothing on the cards today maybe some housework we will see.
Had a rotten nights sleep last night but think it’s the steroids I’m given before treatment so hopefully better tonight or tomorrow. Storm Amy has been upgraded to Amber here so will see where that goes.
Anyhoo, hope everyone escapes unscathed. Enjoy the rest of your day. Oh GF, I too keep thinking it’s Saturday!!🤷🏻‍♀️

                            • Well so much for it not raining until later . As soon as I set to on the runner beans it started. But I bravely put on my coat and battled on, Robin kept me company.
It's still pouring down and I'm not sure it will be stopping for a while.

Speaking of whom, that must have been quite an interesting op, rary. Was it odd, seeing inside your hand? Glad you're over the worst of the pain already.
Oh that hurt Snoop, could someone take that knife out my back, I resemble that remark
As for seeing the inside of my hand I was actually quite surprised as how much space there was inside it, especially when you consider all the things you can do with your hands, where as other parts of your body, welllll fortunately I only needed one day with painllers after which I was fine
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.
