Congrats on your new car, MH. Occasionally I've had difficulty getting on to the Vine in the night. They might have been doing some maintenance, I guess. Or perhaps the wind affecting your connection locally?

No wind here, but high temperatures (back into the thirties). Just got back from walking Jack with E and his dog. Really chilly at the start and quite warm by the end. Last walk with E for a bit, as he's having his dog spayed, so she'll be out of action for a while.

On the cards for today: errands in the village followed by paid work back home. Domestics inevitably...

On that note, I'd better shake a leg. Have a great day everyone.

I'm like Bramble and save jam making until later in the year, blackberries are cooked then put through the sieve I'm going to do the same with raspberries this year. I hate seeds.

Good morning all.

I tried to get on the line too at about 4 or 5 am and couldn't. I've just got on now though and it's reacting MUCH faster than it has been lately.

I've just been looking at this week's weather. The dominant feature seems to be rain ..... every day. It's raining now and chilly too. I've nudged the thermostat dial and am currently waiting for things to warm up. I've also decided that next time I change the bed we're going to change to the Autumn duvet and maybe the brushed cotton/flanelette bedding. We'll probably have a mini heatwave then.

Nicos , you got me feeling nostalgic for a coal or wood fire for a few moments, but then I remembered the inconvenience of getting up when it had gone out in the night, and shivering while I cleaned and relaid it.

I think I'll hunt out the hot water bottles today an check that they seem in good condition. Ditto for Mr GF's heated throw.

Jay, I hope you're feeling okay today.

I made some more raspberry jam yesterday as we had run out. When she was young, I used to make a seedless version for one of my nieces. When she bought her first house, I bought her raspberry canes to make her own.

I think it might just be warm enough to get up now.

Good morning all, the wind is gusting here and has been since yesterday.
Lots of jobs to choose from but I think it will be a domestics day,
I may well change over to heavier bedding as it seems to be cold at night.
Not really September weather as its usually milder.

I don't know why I bothered gathering up the apples. It's gusting so hard it nearly blew me over, so there'll be more coming down. I managed to harvest some tomatoes and I've picked some roses for indoors, but I'm staying in now!

I thought I’d posted earlier…oh well…it was nothing exciting

Still very windy here but nothing like yesterday evening.
No damage thank goodness.
Strangely it’s still pleasantly warm- even in the wind.
We’ve managed to get some cutting back done so far- mostly vastly overgrown shrubs, but still plenty more seeing as we didn’t get round to it last autumn. Not ready yet though for the shredder though….( eagerly awaiting that moment!)

Actually MH..I too need an opticians appt. Thanks for the reminder!

I've actually had a very productive morning and done lots of jobs. At the moment the wind is howling but the sun is shining. I'm thinking of getting the vac out next as somehow we always seem to end up with errant cornflakes and a confetti of croissant crumbs around Mr GF.

I opened the first jar of raspberry jam for Mr GF to have some with his croissant. It even smells wonderful. In fact it's inspired me to decide to make a Victoria sponge this week. I don't know what's been wrong with me this weekend. I think I lost my appetite and found a horse's.

I've got a text to say to book a prescription review. Unfortunately I don't know if it's for me, my husband or my brother in law. I'll give them a ring mid afternoon when hopefully I won't be listening to their very annoying ansaphone for too long.

Good afternoon, wet and windy here today, had bung out some washing, did some work around the garden then headed in the house for a bite to eat, checked the washing on the way past and almost dry so thought another half hour and I would take it in, started preparing lunch and looked out the window and it was just a sheet of rain, so washing back in and will be going into the dryer.
I installed a storage battery last year to capture some of the electricity from the solar panels, so to day I get free electricity for an hour from my supplier so thought I would set up the battery to draw power from the grid as I have that facility, went on line via the app but oh boy why does every company assume that everyone is computer savvy, needless to say I wont be charging up my battery, what I will be doing if it stays dry, is lifting out my trombo plant and clear the bed, I will then remove the timber edging round the top an replace it with concrete edging. Have a good day and remember to pass on your smiles

rary, you say companys assume that everyone is computer savvy. You, however, are lucky. You have young grandchildren. It's time for them to give you some 'payback" for all the things that you do for them.

The wind is still howling here as well.
Changed the bedding this morning and put them in the washing machine.
Took a chance this afternoon and hung them out and was lucky to get them dry.
Rary, I know how you feel,nothing as bad as dragging in wet clothes after hanging them out.
Regarding technology, we would be at loss without our grandkids helping us out.

Tis absolutely silent here…just the odd owl hooting, but the wind has finally dropped!

Right…Hibou is out on the prowl and the kettle is on…I’ll quietly leave a tray out for anyone fancying a brew.
Bit early I know, but being dark is conducive to dozing off again

Today I have more apples and pears to freeze and hazelnuts to pick out of the lawn. Apart from that, another pottering day ahead for me.
