  • Good afternoon, another mixed day of sunshine and cloud , though cloud definitely the higher number, we did to get to the church coffee morning, OH is now managing to get about again, actually I need to find out the make of my glasses for Snoop, as now that OH is moving about a bit more, she has asked me "Do you never see those dishes that need washed" I just asked "what dishes" I reckon we will be talking again round about teatime anyway I got off with doing the work last night, evidently OH knows that the situation with the wall is really getting to me, so going to spend a bit of time relaying some monoblock. Got interrupted while writing my post, then finished up replacing the monoblock, after a time OH came out to see what I was doing, "What do you think you are doing" by this time I only had three blocks to replace, how do you think the blocks would be replaced I asked, do you think I'm Harry Potter, and all I need to do is snap my fingers and everything flows into place, I still think we will be talking by teatime, and talking of, I am now off to make the tea, so enjoy your evening and remember to pass on some smiles

    • ^I'm making my way through our pile right now, rary. Might have to be interrupted by a dog walk, though. Enjoy your tea.

      • Good morning all.

I think I slept well but only until about 5.30 am. I keep trying to go back to sleep by attempting to convince myself that I really ought to get up ..... if that makes any sense.

I had quite a productive day yesterday. I got lots of little, but necessary, jobs done.

Rary, I think that the glasses that are programmed to not see washing up and things on the floor, etc only work for men generally.

        • Mornin n’alln’all
Just got woken up by a green woodpecker calling away on the lawn just outside the bedroom window!
‘Harbingers of rain’…hmm, we’ll, it does look like those clouds are pretty full…let’s see.

I do spot another massive pile of windfall apples to cook down, so I hope it doesn’t rain as I’ve been enjoying sitting on the patio peeling and chopping them up. A nice bit of quiet, calm time ( Apart from trying not to get stung by the wasps and Asian hornets
Last night OH gleefully pulled out a packet of mince pies from the freezer ‘ to make space for more apples’ Methinks he’s enjoying finding hidden delights in there

So…another weekend approaches!…anyone up to anything exciting ? I believe it’s a Bank Holiday weekend in the UK?
Enjoy your day…the smiles have just waved as they circled over head. Always a joy to see.

          • Morning all.

So far, Jack walked, Mr Snoop breakfasted and me fruit teaed up.

Back into the village in a bit for a couple of errands when the shops open. I seem to be going out in the car every day, what with walking with E and errands. I'm all right driving, I just don't like stopping. The village is still full of tourists, so there's never anywhere to park and lots of people, especially kids, milling around everywhere, paying no attention to traffic. Roll on September when they all go home.

Other than the errands, domestics and, with any luck, some paid work. Not getting through it very fast at all. Oh and rain preparations. Storm Erin, I believe, affecting us on Monday.

Glad you spotted the smiles, Nicos. Jack frightened them off earlier, waving his broom around. Cracked my shins with it, he did. Ouch.

            Have a great day, everyone.

                • Good morning all, sun is shining here.
The only exciting thing happening to me this morning is a visit to the dentist.
Nicos, how lovely to be woken up by a woodpecker, haven't heard one in years,

Snoop, busy life at yours, that dog keeps you on your toes.

Flo, thanks for the compliment, the hair is a bit tossed after lying on it.

                  • I got my extra hour of sleep. I was planning on stripping the bed but all of a sudden, according to my phone, the chance of rain in the next hour or so has gone from 2% to 87%! I've just realised that I don't need to wash the fitted sheet. It had got so thin and now has got a hole, probably caused by friction from the rough skin on my feet. I think a good tug and it will fall to pieces. It feels quite chilly and damp here, but the temperature is, supposedly, going to rise by a couple of degrees every day. I think that me planning to wash big bulky items must be the modern day equivelant of a rain dance.

I am just imagining rary waving his magic wand around and his wall building itself for him, to Mrs rary's delight. Maybe Jack could lend him his broomstick.

                    • Good afternoon, a cloudy day again but temperatures of 18-19c, took OH out for lunch, I drove OH paid, that way it's a shared day out , the sciatica is thankfully beginning to ease off a bit, but that also means that OH will now be able to see if things are "fine" though the stock answer if things aren't ok is of course "Well it looked ok to me" ,fortunately I can remove my hearing aid, so dont catch everything that said to that, I need to get the garden tidied up a bit as the garden club members are coming along on Tuesday evening , when of course the forcast is for rain, which could be a blessing in disguise as everything in the garden looks fine in heavy rain. Now going to make something to eat, it wont be anything heavy as we had lunch earlier and OH has told me I don't need another full meal after that, and being a husband who does as he is told I will just have some soup along with some toast and beans and maybe a wee side salad with some cheese, lettuce, radish a wee bit of onion oh and tomato. So have a good evening and smile, you will feel better for that

                      • We've never had even a drop of rain here. However, it has threatened all day, no sunshine, and the sky has alternated between grey and dark grey.

The bedding can wait until tomorrow to be washed. There's no rain in the forecast for the Bank Holiday weekend.

Yesterday I ordered a new remote control for our sound bar and speaker that connects to the TV, DVD, and Hard Drive recorder. It had been losing functions for a while but yesterday the volume control button refused to work. I did think about looking at a new more up to date sound bar, but the thought of having to grovel behind the TV (a spaghetti junction of assorted cables) and connect a new system up put me off. I'm happy to say the new remote arrived today, and the old system works perfectly again.

                        • Mornin n’alln’all
Just a quick bob in as I have an early start with work today.

I managed to get quite a bit of drive weeding done yesterday …thought I’d have a go whilst OH borrowed next door’s weed burner ( bit like rary’s wife keeping an eye on him)
So…it’ll be interesting to see how effective it is. I think my ‘sitting on the driveway on a cushion pulling up weeds by hand’ days aren’t something I can continue with- in years to come at least …so this will be the back up plan.
                          Has anyone else got one?

Right…quick brew finished sonI best be off!

Have a great weekend peeps…espesh those with a Bank Holiday weekend

I feel shattered today, yesterday seemed a long day with appt at 8, had injection then went away for 4hours before returning for scan. I took doggy to mum's and went back there for my wait as it would be hour and half round trip to the hospital otherwise.
Sunny at the moment but I think cloud is forecast for the day.
OH came home with a big bag of tomatoes from a colleague offering them around. Annoyingly mine are not ready yet, is it the greenhouse being too cold early in the year to put them in, neighbour uses a poly tunnel and hers are ready. Is it because I get shade part of the afternoon. I don't know, maybe.
Anyway on with the day starting with walking the dog.

                            • Morning all.

Is it a day for a nap, CG? As for the toms, hard to know what all the variables are. Maybe she started hers off earlier and kept them indoors for longer before planting them out.

I'd have thought weed burning would be quite effective, Nicos. Sure, you might have to keep going back over it, but you have to do that when hand weeding anyway. And at least you won't have to bend down or get down on the ground as much.

And rary, very jealous if that's a light meal. Wish I had your metabolism.

As for here, more of the same as yesterday. Jack walked (went out with E and his dog today, so he's pretty exhausted), Mr Snoop breakfasted (I had some too, unusually) and lots of tea. Coffee next. We've run out of dairy milk so we had hazelnut milk instead. Very odd in tea. Probably quite nice in coffee. It doesn't pay to look at the ingredients in these plant milks, though... I bought it for overnight oats with hazelnut flour and grated apple in. The question is will I buy more. Not enough hours in the day to start making my own. Plus it looks like a load of washing up.

On the cards after coffee, a few errands in the village again, some domestics and then some paid work. With any luck a bit of eyelid inspection in there somewhere.

                              Have a great day, everyone.
