  • Good afternoon, quick way to make beef olives, purchase beef ham from butchers, have never noticed in any of the supermarkets, usually get the choice to add spice, entirely your choice I enjoy with and without, then some chunky beef links, have never tried the long thin ones, wrap the links with the beef, now days I usually cook them in a slow cooker, resting on chopped onions, and sometimes with carrots
Just remembered Snoops post so much appreciated if a Mod could move this post into the correct thread.

    • I read somewhere they are nice stuffed with black pudding Rary. Have you tried this?

Last time we were in the Uk we bought some pork and black pudding sausages - and those too were amazing!

      • Good afternoon, it has been a lovely day today, though clouds moving in at present and getting a bit cooler, had our two youngest grandsons down doing some work for us,one was painting a hand rail while the other did some weeding of the monoblock on the driveway, both away quite happy, me I'm now skint however they both did a good job, made the mistake of saying my legs were sore, it was then lecture time of "will you remember your age" I don't really need to remember as I'm reminded of it every time I do something . Now off to make the tea so have a pleasant evening and keep smiling

            • Evening

We've had a few spots of rain Flo it dried as it hit the ground.

Snoop it sounds like MrSnoop really needed that sleep if thunder and lightning didn't wake him.

Rary I've not heard of Beef Ham wonder if its a local item.

                • I managed to cook down two very large bowls of apples today.
Yesterday my scales finally packed in. Bit sad really as I’ve had them for about 30 years. Anyway…the new ones arrive tomorrow so I’ll be bagging up and freezing at some point.

Incidentally…anyone know of a good way to get rid of brown stained skin on hands after handling loads of apples and Plums?

                  • Rary, I've copied your beef olive post here:
                    https://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gr...76#post2603176

And I've included links to your recipe and method, plus Nicos's suggested alternative.

You'd be more than welcome if you fancied joining in on that thread. Plenty of interest in your beef olives post and I reckon you'd be a source of inspiration for meals for us..

Chicken stuffed with haggis and a slice of bacon round in a cream whisky sauce

                      Anyway bit early for that.
Very grey here, pottered in the garden yesterday and no plans yet today unless I go outside again, maybe I should do some housework
Off to walk, kettle has boiled.

                      • Good morning all.

I've had very little sleep. To occupy my over active brain, I've just been looking at deep cotton fitted sheets on Amazon as I've noticed that the one on the bed at the moment has worn very thin. I don't think that it will survive another wash. In the end , I ordered one from the same company that I got my brushed cotton/flannelette ones from as I'm happy with them. It's just a plain white cotton one (and another brushed cotton one as autumn is not far away).

I've got grory hop delivery due this morning. I'll probably get a confirmation email shortly to tell me of there's any substitutions.

I think I might have sorted my brother in law's problem out. He asked me if I would contact the surgery for him. I did. I spoke to one of the "care navigators". I think we used to call them receptionists. She had to call her manager. End result is the district nurse rang him and is calling to see him today. His problem has been caused by a lack of follow up care after his discharge from hospital. So much for their multi disciplinary teams and seamless care! All words and no action.

I'll be back later. Mr GF has woke up, I've got someone to talk to, a captive audience. Well, I would have but he hasn't got his hearing aids in yet.

I've just had a confirmation re my grory hop. No substitutions, nothing missing.

                        • Morning all.

Some rain in the night. Fortunately. Turns out the thunderstorm Mr Snoop slept through started a fire in the big valley that ours flows into. Not that far away. Fortunately, the fire brigade got there quickly, so it was contained. We got off very lightly, not just with the fire but the storm itself. Did huge damage elsewhere. The wind took off roofs in a nearby village and others were ankle deep in big hailstones. Oh, another storm has started. Right where we are. Fingers crossed we get off as lightly as yesterday. Your lightning map is very accurate, Nicos!

Off to the vet's with Jack today for his last puppy jab. Will try and fit some shopping in while we're out.

                          Have a great day, everyone.

A cloudy dry day here for us.

Fingers crossed for you Snoop hopefully you'll be lucky with this next storm.

Not much happening here today apart from going for my annual blood test later.

                            Enjoy your day
