  • Good afternoon, dull but dry and warm today, had to take one of the grandsons down to catch the Arran Ferraris morning, after which OH wanted me to head for a nearby farm shop with a small restaurant , where I let her treat me to a really nice lunch, then we made to a supermarket where OH bought some flowers for the church, once back home I was out to the garden where I shredded a number of branches that I had intended using for peas and beans, there after I started deadheading some flowers, while doing that a young neighbour asked me what the purple bush that she could see in the back garden was a rowan tree with a couple of clematis growing through it and a Buddleia planted beside it she could see it from her window and just had to see what it was, she is now away to try something like that herself. Have a good evening an keep smiling

          • Mornin n’alln’all

We were woken by a massive storm this morning!…what an exciting way to start the day
Seemed to last for hours…and then I fell asleep again.

A mix of domestics and gardening for me today….probably some ironing, and if time, more weeding and cutting back of flower stems now that I’ve collected all the seeds I want.

Anyone fancy a brew? I fancy crumpets…but don’t have any Probably just as well cos you just can’t have one can you?
Favourite topping?…apart from drippy butter, I do rather like banana and peanut butter on mine.

Enjoy your day peeps…not too wet , not too hot….just right.

            • Morning all.

I'll leave you in Nicos's tender hands, rary. The only potential related thread I could find was about bitter courgettes, but that was due to a genetic defect in the seeds by the look of it. That said, Bren is a whizz on the search facility and can often find stuff that the rest of us have had no success with.

I reckon what you need to do is compare like with like, GF, not with the cheapest. I bet if you look at the price of good raspberry jam, yours will be very competitive, perhaps even cheaper.

As for here, it's five to nine and I'm ready for bed after a very early morning start thanks to the hound. Had a nice walk in the cool, though.

On the cards for today, some domestics, some paid work and definitely naps plural as I shall have the first one right now.

              Have a great day, everyone.

                • More like gardener’s hands Snoop !

MH….I tried the butter and she gagged
But….it did give me the idea to put a much smaller amount of butter in her mouth first….creating a sort of fatty barrier….before popping the tablet in. So…still a brill idea to bounce off..thank you x

Rary you commented about it in your bokashi thread. If that's any help?

                      • Morning
We had a very muggy walk this morning followed by a downpour with rumbling thunder.

Snoop Puss Jack looks so like dog we see on a Saturday morning (infact today), he runs with his dad(who is way younger than us)😆. He is a shepherd dog but I can't recall which. He is sort of a slim labrador size but taller than ours as she is short legged show line.

Thanks, CG. If the dad ever seems stoppable, could you ask him about his dog? The people at the pound said 'pastor', meaning sheepdog or shepherd. Everyone else is a bit sceptical.

I've just Googled shepherd dog that looks like a doberman and come up with Beauceron, a very handsome French herding dog. Very similar in looks, but the ears are higher up and not as long or floppy. That said, Jack's head still has a way to grow, so who knows?

The laundry is out and the greenhouse plants are watered.
We are going to the library shortly and to the pharmacy to pick up some vitamins.
Hopefully an afternoon in the garden if the weather plays nicely.
                              Have a good day all,
