Checked the bin that I had put the manure with the high straw content into and had then added the contents of a couple of bokashi bins, I had added some compost worms into it this bin and when checking it yesterday for worms, was taking my grandsons fishing, the worm count was quite high, from that I would think that the contents would be safe to use in the garden, though I am still a bit wary of using it, though after reading the links that Snoop had posted again I think it should be safe to use for vegetables, so intend emptying the material into a pit in which I will grow a courgette plant, though at the same time I will also plant a pot with some calendula, nasturtium and pansies as an indicator, though if anyone can think of better indicators please let me know
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Lettuce is my go-to indicator on the basis that the seed is cheap, they grow fairly quickly & I always sow too many so don't mind if I lose a few

If the manure is a bit fresh,I think peas or beans are good indicators, lettuce would get splashes of the manure on the leaves & difficult to wash, risk of something like E. coli?

Thanks J.J. when I use manure I always use a four inch covering of soil or compost, but the information you have posted is very good advice for everyone

            I’ve stickied this thread…it’s really interesting reading…thank you .

Eventually I think it would be worth archiving it for easy access in the future?

Good afternoon, thought I would give an update on the trial, I actually planted a courgette and cucumber into a large pot 20in. diameter I had I covered the bottom with 2ins of soil then then covered that with a 4in covering of the manure which had been contaminated followed with 4ins of soil, the courgette seems to have died off but I have now got one cucumber ready to havest, though I am a bit wary of doing so the other trial is a bit patchy, but that could be due to weather conditions
I have now added cardboard to the bin with the contaminated manure and sprinkled bakoshi bran over this I then covered this with shredded wood and again covered with the bran, after seeing a program on TV here a farmer was using bokashi bran over his cows manure, then leaving it to be trampled in by the cows, I decided to work the bran into the pile by prodding it with a stick to simulate the trampling of the cows, as usual don't know if it will work, but won't know if I don't try will post some photos showing 1/ cardboard with some bran 2/ wood chipping with the bran worked in to the contents
