  • Morning all.

Well, I'm the walking wounded today. Another whopper wasp sting yesterday afternoon that is really hot and angry. Counting my blessings I didn't have an allergic reaction.

Glad to hear Mr GF is comfortably ensconced back in his own bed. Bet you are both so relieved. Hope Bil is doing OK.

And yes, today is the big day. Mr Snoop is in tidying mode to get things up off the floor wherever possible. I've got work to do first, so will join in later. There's a lot to do...

    Have a great day, everyone.

        • Mornin n’alln’all

I’m really excited for you Snoop!…puppy- wise…not wasp- wise . Hope the swelling settles soon. That can’t be good

Gite cleaning on the books for today - and some ironing… It’s forecast 31C later…but I’d rather do it now than when it’s 37C on Saturday. Maybe a siesta later!

We also need to make another appt for Hibou for her 3 monthly Echogram of her heart. I honestly didn’t think she’d last this long! 25% survival rate 2 months ago.
She’s in her element bringing in mice and voles and lounging around on the cool grass in the shade of the tree whilst watching us
slaving away in the garden Happy days…and we are still enjoying every moment with her ( not so sure about her waking us up at 5 am though so she can go outside to play..still….awww….)

          Whats everyone up to today?
I’ll be needing help munching our way through choc ices etc ….to make way for fruit from the garden…any volunteers?
Looks like blackcurrant jam needs to be on the books too in the very near future!

Enjoy your day peeps…( I’m sure Jack is in for a lovely day ) , share those lovely smiles of yours …and do keep hydrated .

Which reminds me…I need to top up the water for the birds
          / wildlife/ butterflies etc….

          • Me, me, me! I'l take a choc ice & I don't care that it's only 10am & I've only now just had breakfast lol. It's a scorcher here again today. You did make me laugh re. the 'candle' Nicos Will be thinking of you & Hibou today. x

Snoop what bad luck to get second sting! I wonder why they're so grumpy?

Sounds like you had a smashing day lottie. x

Rary - DO TAKE CARE PLEASE - you'll send us all grey with your escapades!

I don't think I'd mind being called 'duck' either Bren. It's the terms of endearment (love, dear, sweetheart etc.) from someone I'm not particularly familiar/friendly that always have that patronising/condescending & sometimes sexist tone when directed at women. OH, Mum etc. can call me by such terms whenever they like but it's fairly obvious when it's not appropriate. Medical staff in particular - whatever grade - are told they shouldn't use them as they can cause offence or are misinterpreted as genuine expressions of 'love' - they really do know better so when they do this it makes me think they're not very good at their jobs (which might not be the case) & aren't very professional.

I had a boss not so long back that called one of the Accounts Assistant 'just a Doris'. I hadn't heard this term before but he was very clearly implying in a very antiquated & misogynistic way that she was a silly little girl whose role was of no great importance. I reminded him she was a very intelligent 'Doris' with a university degree above either his or my level of education, who often worked late to help meet deadlines - that he should be more respectful as I found the term was offensive & it frankly made me think less of him and wonder what he might think of me. Fortunately he was already aware that I'm slightly 'forthright' so to speak & took it on the chin rather than handing me my coat lol - but that fear of losing a much needed job is why women for millennia have put up with this sort of bull****

Sorry for an early morning rant

            • Good morning all. What a beautiful sunny day.

Snoop, an exciting day for you welcoming Jack into your home...sorry to hear you got stung...twice.

GF, hope all is right in your world now that Mr GF is back home.

Lottie, 4 new dresses, I can hardly find one, everything in the stores seem to be made for the young,

Hoping to spend some time gardening today among other errands.
              Have a good day all.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

                • Good morning all.

Mr GF's croissant is cooking in the air fryer. He changed to Sainsbury's ones a couple of months ago when Aldi didn't have any for a few weeks. I draw the line at cooking some things from scratch.

Bren, not local. Us locals might say "luv" in a Yorkshire accent, accompanied by a smile, rather than "dear" in such a condescending tone, in what I think would be an accent from India or thereabouts.

My brother in law is still not home yet! I hope that it's today. If at all possible, and depending how he is, I'll push for removal of the catheter. He does already live in supported housing and the warden checks that he's okay. His flat is opposite her office. He also has a cleaner/helper, that he knows and trusts who does his shopping, cleaning and laundry. He also has a hot meal delivered every lunchtime. Time will tell if he needs his carers permanently. He now has a social worker, who rang me yesterday and told me about his discharge plans. She said she would post me a copy of his discharge care plan. I asked her "Why not just email it to me?" She did. Surely in 2025, email should be the default communication for most of the population, particularly considering the price and reliability of Royal Mail. It's not surprising that the system is so slow and nothing gets done.

Mr GF is still quite confused but at least his paranoia seems to be greatly reduced today. He hasn't mentioned "THEM" coming to grab him this morning and took his tablets with a minimum of argument. He got to the stage in hospital where he just refused to take anything that they gave him.

                  • That's the Grory Hop put away, now waiting for annual bedding plants, this time garden ready, for the tubs at the front. I really should think more seriously about a greenhouse to grow my own.
Agree with you wholeheartedly Andraste I've had the same experience at work and dealt with it in the same way

                        • Good afternoon warm and sunny today, usual Thursday coffee morning this morning and now just going to laze about for a time as OH says I need to slow down a bit, possibly if I just hang around she will finish up telling me to get out and do something in the garden.Need to know how the wasp is Snoop, did you kill it or did you let it fly away.
Just joking two wasp stings in the one day is not funny, do keep an eye on the sting areas as even if not allergic it can still give problems, so hope you are well today, right will be off to annoy OH for a time then will go out and dead head the flowers in the baskets. Have a good day and keep passing on the smiles

                            • Evening. Back after a few days away. Had to go for an MRI scan on Sunday…oh diazepam is a wonderful thing😀…at the new super hospital in Glasgow. I was shocked at the state of the place, it looks as though it’s being rebuilt from the inside out. Couldn’t believe it!!
Anyhoo glad to hear Mr GF is home and hope your BiL is home soon too GF!
What a handsome chap Jack is Snoop. Best of luck with him, he looks very mischievous in a cute way of course.
Enjoy the rest of your evening folks.? Catch you later. x

                              • Mornin n’alln’all
Mid 30s expected today and woke up to find OH sitting outside enjoying a brew- having watered everything already! Good man

We’ve decided that we don’t really enjoy red currants in the quantity we grow them. We have most of last year’s still in the freezer.
Turns out that when OH went sea fishing last week that one of the guys is a chef and he jumped at the opportunity of several kilos of frozen mirabelles from last year.OH casually asked if he’d like some fresh red currants too and he was thrilled, so he’s coming over later on this afternoon to pick some ( hopefully all!!!)
Looks like OH has just been invited by him on an American crayfish collecting session ( he has a special licence) .
Nice new friendship forming there… Seeing as OHs main hobby is cooking and baking I think they will have lots to chat about!

Not sure what today will bring apart from that - still got a long list of indoor and outdoors things needing doing ( both getting much shorter though ( Yey!). Think I’ll just go with the heat and motivation levels…

Enjoy your day peeps- keep cool, hydrated and remember to leave water out for the wildlife!
And most importantly- as Rary says- pass on a smile.
I imagine there’s an awful lot of smiles going on at this very moment very far ‘darn scarf’ from here in sunny Spain?
