  • Mothhawk..well then we have an attic. Its a converted space where my hubby has his train set.
It used t9 be a bedroom but now it's no longer needed.

    • Hello chatty people

Drawn into posting instead of just lurking (blame Snoop )!

Best wishes for a swift recovery to all with their own/loved ones with health issues *hugs*

I remember those tea's made's - they were smashing - do they still make them these days or has everyone been duped into buying pod coffee makers instead?

We had an attic in the house I grew up in (only a loft in my current abode). My dad laid boards specifically to set up a big scalextric for me - although I was 2 years old at the time so not really capable of either using a scalextric or climbing the ladder to get to it lol.

      • We did have a Teasmade years ago, but it (or maybe Himself) made a mess in the bedroom I do miss the morning cup of tea in bed!
I thought a storm was coming earlier, but the sun is out now.

        • No grammar pernicketiness over here, Andraste.

What we do have, as you'll have seen in your former lurker days, are internationally famous whirlies, grory hops, smiles whizzing up and down and top quality chat and support. And who could want for more than that?

          Glad you're joining us as a fully-fledged chit-chatter.

As for teasmades, I see they're still being sold. My mum and dad used to have one. According to the Argos website, the current ones have a TEA NOW button (Argos's capital letters). They aren't cheap, but TEA NOW at the press of a button sounds like something I'd use regularly.

Edited to add: Might it be worth getting one, Flo? Keeping it on your side of the bed? Only filling Himself's cup up halfway?

          • Good afternoon, have been trying to get everything in order before I go through the procedure for carpal tunnel, all my baskets are out and flower plants planted out in the garden, veg wise the only things I will need to do are watering my tomatoes and lifting some potatoes, both of which I can do with one hand, just realised I may have a problem getting into the hut as I need two hands for opening the door, so I might move the bird feeding into the garage till I have the use of both hands again, this morning we were at the church coffee morning, after which I washed the floors of the conservatory, kitchen, bathroom, hall and porch,( so lots of brownie points for me,) then tidied up round about the patio area, so now ready for the hospital tomorrow, have a good evening and find something that makes you smile and if you can pass it on as a pleasant smile helps everyone
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

                    • No stuff in our loft only because we had a new roof around 15 years ago, everything was stripped out so there's nothing in the loft apart from rolls of insulation, its looks like a giant duvet

good to see you in chat Andraste

                      • Welcome to the chat side Andraste…this is where we learn about things we never knew even existed!….and have fun at the same time.

Rary…sending lots of positive thoughts your way for tomorrow. Hopefully it will be less of a worry having been through it all before.
Even so, I hope it’s all very straight forward for you.

My parents always had a teasmaid. I guess going down to a freezing kitchen first thing ,pre central heating, mustn’t have been much fun. I can’t move without a couple of mugs of tea first thing…..I think in that situation I’d buy a small travel kettle or a flask of boiling water next to my bed.

We don’t have an attic or loft…our bedrooms are built into the roof space, so most of our things are stored in the cellars and barn. Anything precious is put in storage cupboards in our bedrooms.
I really must make an effort to go through them!…Bit by bit would be a good start.

                        • Evening. Rary, can you lend me some of your energy please? Hope your op goes well and you have a quick recovery.

I really must do some decluttering .... eventually.

I've just had a horrific night and day. I ended up having to call the ambulance twice yesterday evening/night for Mr GF, the second time they took us to A & E. He is now on a ward in hospital, a different hospital to his brother, of course. He is now sleeping peacefully after wreaking havoc, and I have I've had less than 3 hours sleep. I'm just hoping that tomorrow is a better day. At the moment I am contemplating a large G & T. followed by an early night.

                          • Thanks for the lovely welcome

Will be thinking of you tomorrow rary & Mr GF too x

I've been threatening to Marie condo the wardrobe we tend to shove stuff into for ages but want to get some of those vacuum bags first (any excuse really). I'd never be brave enough to go in the loft space (too many spiddies) & I don't think I'd fit through our tiny hatch I

I googled teasmades & they're not cheap are they! Wish I'd snaffled my nan's old swan one before she threw hers away now!

                              • Mornin n’alln’all
Lovely sunny start to the day. I’m hoping it stays that way, but we’ve been forecast violent storms with at least 2-3 cm of hailstones
                                Let’s hope it by-passes us.
I’ve seen pictures of the damage hailstones can do to trees, shrubs and plants. It’ll be soul destroying if all the hard work we’ve been doing so far this year will be battered down.
Which reminds me- I need to make room in the garage to protect the camper’s solar panels!

GF….hope you managed to get some sleep last night - you must feel emotionally exhausted x
Hope you and yours have a better day today.

                                Rary…thinking of you! x

                                Right…anyone fancy a brew?
Hope the smiles get to reach everyone today. I awoke with a smile this morning. OH had clearly left the back door open for Hibou….and she’d caught and brought me a massive mouse for my breakfast…thought it was a young rat at first
She just sat there trilling at me until I woke up and thanked her. Talk about proud!
So that’s one less mouse to eat my strawberries this year. Not seen the hare yet, and I was hoping we’d get a few handfuls before the hare got stuck in to munching them all

Remember to be kind to yourselves peeps.
