Morning all, thanks for the advice,am now going to try and get a bit of new normal, till new year, recharge the old batteries, and spend time with MR,then hopefully i will be ready to pounce,i will not be doing the usual seasonal food, just good simple tasty normal,Janie you have to go with your gut feeling over christmas, you have come a long way last few years and feel for you, especially as this time of year is so meaningful to you,we also was hoping to be moved and have a real family christmas, but is not meant to be,all we can do is,hang on the good things we have achieved by keeping apart, time is flying so quickly,we will soon all be wondering what it was all about, better be safe than sorry lass, try to stay positive,we have come a long way the last few months to undo the good,
Thanks for that lightening up info Nicos, that's got to feel reason to cheer up,as new beginings start,
WE all need to look back at history to think, just how lucky we are,x

    Morning all.

LD, I'd be a bit worried about a solicitor, especially an estate agent's one, who didn't know the current rules on stamp duty... Time for some independent advice?

Janie, I know what I'd do if I were you. You also have to think about anyone you come into contact with afterwards if you were to go to your daughter's. There's always Easter, once more people have had jabs. Sorry to be the voice of doom and gloom.

Right, that's enough of that. Massive busy-ness this morning. Catch you all later maybe. Weather here is miserable, by the way. So no digging today.

    Have a good one, everyone.

I think they"re wrong too LD,the thresholds gone up to 500k anything over that we pay stamp duty. In April 2021 the thresholds going back to 1.25k. This is for everyone buying to help the property market, not just first time buyers, they have a separate paragraph. Here"s the gov link, the thresholds bit is the important bit.
    https://www.gov.uk/stamp-duty-land-tax

Theres a paragraph that says - How much you pay -
"You can use HM Revenue and Customs" (HMRC) Stamp duty land tax calculator to work out how much tax you"ll pay."
I wonder if you look there & fill in the dates it will tell you there"s nothing to pay? Good luck with everything going well LD

Something"s wrong there LD. My daughter and her OH have just sold both their houses and bought a house together for circa 1m. They"ve saved around 35k because of the stamp duty holiday.

I feel for you with your OH. I miss mine so much even 15 years on. Leukaemia and pneumonia took him but I was told by the doctors that if they hadn"t I would have gone through what is happening to you. I"ll leave it at that.

I have a quandary. My daughter is expecting me for Christmas this year. I love her Christmases. I see most of my close family and this year would be wonderful as I haven"t seen most of them since last year due to the pandemic. My dogs love it and get to socialise with the other family dogs. We play silly games and it"s fun. But.... it means a mixing of 8 different households. Also, she"s putting me in an unheated, undecorated garret. To be fair I am at least getting a bed and not a camp bed I can"t get out of. I will be the oldest person there by at least 20 years. Having been shielded for most of this year I think I will be bl00dy mad to mix with so many people.

I have also been invited by other people. One couple live about a mile from me. I can"t take the dogs as they have cats and getting home would be a nightmare as although in walking distance I don"t really want to do that in the dark. There will be no buses or taxis. The other is 2 friends who live just down the road from me. They usually go to their sons but have decided not to this year for the same reasons that I"m reluctant to go to my daughters. Again, dogs not invited but as it"s only a short distance away it"s not such a problem.

I really, really want to go to my daughters but ...

    Evening all.

A bright spot in my day - the seeds from dtbrown arrived, by Royal Mail, - bless them. It's been so long - I ordered them in November when they did the 1 packets - I'd completely forgotten what I'd ordered so it was lovely surprises to wiffle through the packets, like opening a present. Some free parsnip seeds too! Hurray for Spring!

How frustrating MH.....we are still waiting for OH"s passport which was sent over a week ago...he"s going to chase it up today.
it does make you wonder though as Bren suggests that yours have gone to the same address?

I"m going to try and finally wrap my daughters parcel today - she"s also asked for some veggie seeds I have going spare , and I need to include them as after 31st I may not be able to export them.I"m looking forward to fiddling with my seed packets!.... I may just start off a ffew chilli seeds.

Apart from that I"m not sure what else I"ll be doing today - no doubt OH will find me something to do

    Enjoy your day peeps...

    Morning all.

Grey outside. Due to be miserable all day. The weather that is. I shall do my best to stay jolly, though I really feel like I could do with another hour or three of sleep. Mr Snoop has just made coffee, so let's hope that puts a bit of tiger in my tank.

On the cards today: finish work admin and then look at the ground to see if it's diggable, though I doubt it, to be honest. Still too wet.

Hope you all have a lovely day. Thinking of you, LD.
