Polytunnels, we seem to be growing every supermarkets strawberries round here, they were more to the right(where our village is), but they move to the next field every 4 or 5 years, so thankfully we have a view and some fields now. Mostly barley, rape seed and potatoes grown on rotation with the odd crop of carrots and swedes(they call them turnips round here but they are Swedes).Originally posted by Snoop Puss View Post^Great spot for a great photo.
On the gardening front: is that huge polytunnels just below the skyline on the right? Or just an illusion?

Good afternoon a bit blustery today, OH wanted to do some shopping this morning then a visit to a friend, now watching the boy's doubt if I will be in the greenhouse tonight as the wind appears to be getting stronger, but whatever you plan doing keep warm and safeit may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Great shots, Burnie. Where I live, plastic polytunnels are not used that much because of the risk of hail damage. But down south, of course, they're everywhere. I hadn't realised they were used so extensively in Scotland.Originally posted by burnie View Post
This shot shows more of the polytunnels, there are hundreds of acres of them. Note the autumn sown barley

Large parts of Angus and Perthshire are under plastic where the ground is flat enough, as we are coastal they are concentrated here, go inland a few miles and you hit the Cairngorms. As well as strawbs they grow your early rasps and some are experimenting with other fruit crops too, blueberries are one I know of.

Evening all. Been blustery and chilly here all day but Ive been treated to beef olives for lunch (one of my super yummie meals) and at tea/supper time, I had leftover mince on wholemeal bread sandwiches which for me is another super yummie.
Exciting evening tonight for my grand-daughter's boyfriend. He is only 17 years old and plays football with Aberdeen FC. He played the whole second half against Glasgow Celtic at the weekend which for a youngster was an immense vote of confidence from his manager and when I checked the starting line up for the Cup replay tonight against Rangers, I see he is down to start. So chuffed for him

Good morning, blustery wind and heavy showers this morning, it looks like there was heavy rain overnight as there is a lot of standing water, a quick check of garden and greenhouse and everything looks ok min temperature overnight in greenhouse was 6c so not too cold, but this could be a bad day for me as I could get caught up in housework again, doesn't seem right housework is for housewives
at that I will go and take the boy's to school
