  • I'm sad to say we don't have any local butchers that sell fresh game near here. When I wanted to buy a fresh rabbit my only local option was a farm shop selling ones that had come from China frozen! How dare they call themselves a farm shop?

Snoop, I had to google trenette. I presume it's similar to linguine.

Today cheese and onion crispbakes, corn on the cob, new potatoes and courgette fritters.

Maybe a crumble. There's already a jam jar of crumble in the fridge and I've got apple and frozen raspberries or cherries.

I'm not a huge linguini fan. Because of the shape, I find them a bit slimy. Trenette are flat, which I prefer, but similar in width I think (3-4 mm, I believe).

Mushroom omelette with a side salad.
The rest of the ‘trifle’ for pud.

          • The courgette fritters,or more accurately courgette batons in beer batter, that I made last night were really good. What made them even better though was that I decided to make a dip of allioli with some blitzed preserved lemon added.

I've been trying to decide between soup or fish pie for today. In the end, I let Mr GF make the choice. He's gone for soup. I think it will be curried sweet potato soup made with coconut milk. We'll have it with bread and butter and grated parmesan.

I think when I call round at my brother in law's later I'll call in at the mini Sainsbury's to see if they have any of their nice (exorbitant) strawberries for dessert.

Oh, that sounds nice. I've been trying to get inspiration for a different risotto.

It's really tasty. Benefits from a generous amount of parmesan, but what risotto doesn't?

Sadly, I find even that difficult.

                            • Himself wants a sandwich. I have some paninis so I might find something interesting to put in them so it's also a sandwich but fancy

Fell at the first fence yesterday - no pudding, but I had a magnum, which was probably worse calorie-wise!
