  • I've decided. We'll have salmon baked with lemon and capers, new potatoes, corn on the cob, carrots and peas.

Yoghurt for Mr GF. Crackers and blue cheese for me.

Snoop, your mention of mince pies has reminded me that stashed away in the dim reccesses of the fridge is a lonely little Christmas pudding that I made at the end of last year. Maybe, if the weather changes as expected for Easter, we'll have it then with some brandy cream.

      • Probably everyone knew this already, but I just discovered you can COOK radishes with butter garlic and chilli and salt, I've cooked their leaves too, they taste great! Mostly because of the garlic, but they tasted great!! Click image for larger version

          • Melmel your roasted radishes does look good it’s something I’ve not tried, thanks for the idea.

I bake sourdough cobs and loaves but never made milk bread. How does it taste is it something like a brioche loaf?

            • Yes Bren they come out very soft
              here's the recipe I follow:

              500gr flour
250-270 of milk (depending on how much the flour absorbs
100gr sourdough ( I use LICOLI = Liquid sourdough not sure how would be called in English) I use it when after feeding it starts to go down
              20 gr of sugar
              1tsp salt
              50 ml sunflower oil

Mix first Licoli, sugar and milk, then add all of the flour, salt and last oil.
let it double in a covered container then make the little balls and let it double again, cook 200* for 10 mins and 180 for 20 mins

This recipe makes a neutral bread, if you like it sweeter I'd put more sugar, these doses are nice for a buffet when you make small sandwiches with ham and cheese and prosciutto

              • Lovely looking rolls, Melmel. I'll give them a go soon. Mr snoop loves milk bread.

                  • Tonight cheese and onion crispbake, couscous and roast vegetables, probably onion, garlic, mushroom, peppers, aubergine and courgette.

I'll make a little crumble unless I go in search of nice strawberries.

                    • I've decided that it's far too summery for crumble. I've just made an orange jelly and put mandarins (tinned) in it. It's setting in the fridge (hopefully) now.

                      • gf…I often pop mine in the freezer for an hour or so to get it started with the setting.

OH found a chilli con carne in the freezer which I’d made a while ago and forgotten about
So that’s what we’re having tonight.
Great really as it won’t take much prep this evening
( It was for the equivalent of a ‘take away’ for when we are too tired to cook, but it does need eating )

                            • Those egg custard tarts are calling out to me, Mark. I can hear them from here. I might just have to make some. Fortunately, I say that a lot to myself and then manage to resist. But egg custards are irresistible.
