What I foraged today!

Near matrix park - by the river! Hopefully shall be going down today

Went down near the Martrix today didnt have much about a kilo blackberries, 250g rosehips, 250g haws, 100g sloes and about 25g elderberries not sure if it was the right part you went to Chris we walked down the lane by the roundabout along the river tawe.

woohoo! found some more sloes! picked 15oz .... yup, almost a whole pound .... nowhere near the several pounds i would have had if someone else hadn't beaten us to it .... hoping to get more this evening ....

are these rosehips?

these are quite small ones, some much bigger ones on the bigger stems
they're all roughly that colour
the bigger stems have thorns just the same as on rose bushes

Yes, FG, they're rosehips. Look at the shape of the leaf, not just the thorns!

we picked another 1.5lbs of sloes today ... and we'll get more through the next week or so ....

and i'm off on a mushroom hunting course on sunday

disappointingly, not found many blackberries or elderberries nearby .... even my own elderberry tree is bare ....

My elderberries are still green! Enjoy your mushroom hunting. I'm only really confident picking about 6 types, but thats enough for me

My elderberries are ripe, but I don't know what to do with them, I always thought that they were poisonous!

Oh and farmer gules I too am off on a mushroom foraging course, but mines in october, can't complain as its free!
