Are we done with the frost? After Monday & Tuesday's very cold nights, it was 12°C in my greenhouse last night. Can I plant my runner beans out yet?Last edited by mrbadexample; 06-05-2011, 02:57 PM.Our England is a garden, and such gardens are not made

Very harsh dry frost last night from the East (where European temperatures are unusually low even for Balkans, Russia, Poland). Weather forecast has explained that rain now moving in from the West will turn to snow once the two air masses meet..... seems pretty inevitable. Have removed roof netting from fruit cage, a fairly easy precaution that only takes a few minutes, in some contrast to the time and swearing it will take to put it back again.... Doing my best to preserve plants, seedlings etc with bubble wrap, newspaper etc, taking solace in the likelihood that this cold snap should reduce pests come the Spring. February, getting lighter.....
