£1.92 per month for a half-plot (other half is rented by a neighbour so we share the whole thing). No water, no manure-fairy, no kit that we can borrow or rent. But it is right next to my garden!

Probably depends on the size of a whole plot. My first plot (5 rods) is 126m2. The second is supposedly the same size. Not sure yet what size the other one is. It looks big but will probably look bigger once it is cleared of c***.

That is five rod, so at the moment £15.20 for the year.

On our site a member can have up to two full plots for £13.00 per year, there is parking space, water toilets and a large bay for manure which we get free from a riding stables

I have a 12 rod plot. Its is supposed to be 24 quid a year, but this year is free because of the state it was in when I took it on.
It is owned by a local company and has been an allotment site for donkeys years, there was a standpipe, but that got vandalised and never replaced.

Our site charges 8 pence a square metre (half price for OAP's) £8 for water. We have a shop, toilets, communal rotavator, strimmer amd generator. Wood chippings delivered regularly, We also have a skip every year for rubbish. There is also a newly planted apple orchard and a hazel copse, there will be apples and hazel canes for all allotment holders when the trees are mature enough. Live stock is allowed though i've only seen (and heard) chickens and ducks. Fires are allowed but not in the summer months. We are allowed sheds, greenhouses and polytunnels, one plot has two sheds and two greenhouses (i'm so jealous). We are self run and if there are any problems they can get sorted really quickly. In August we have an annual show with your normal categories for veg and fruit but there is also categories for cut flowers, flower arrangement, preserves, wine, savory snack, and desserts. And for the children the categories are tallest sunflower, miniature garden(garden in a box or tray not to exceed 40 cms squared !) strangest shaped veg, best fruit, best veg and best flower. We also have a space outside the shop where people put stuff they don't want and this week i picked up 3 doors and a compost bin

Wow legendary one that sounds like allotment heaven.

Although there is nothing in our lease to say we can't keep livestock it is discouraged. There have been problems with animals escaping and badly kept plots around the animal. The goat on our plot was kidnapped recently by some little hooligans so I hope it exacted goat type revenge. It has now moved to Cornwall though. Keeping bees on a plot here is also a problem although I know in surrounding councils it isn't. We are not a very socially active site but the rep is trying to change that and encourage BBQs on site and a seed and plant swap. Not having a central "meeting" point doesn't help. I suppose the thinking is that we are there to grow stuff not chat about TV, although that never happens. However the upside of that is that when people are getting to you (which happens in my job) you can escape to the peace and quiet of the lottie and contemplate the rotation plan and loose yourself in the little world that has been created there.

It does doesn't it It's not 'till i read about peoples allotment sites i realise how lucky i am to have mine.

I think one of the beneifts of an allotment is the social side, i'm not really one for shows and halloween parties (but i still go) but i do enjoy talking to the other plot holders. I'm not sure how social our site when there is work involved as there was a call out for people to help put up some raised beds for disabled folks and i was the only one to turn apart from two commitee members But aparently there has been a lot of new members so hopefully more will to turn up to do a bit of work.

I think the full plot is 10 pole, so I get 5 pole for £23.04 per year.

10 poles is 9mx27m so I get 121.5m2
so 19p per m2
