KCN I think it may be a brassica bug (a shield bug) - they only become a problem when there are a lot! I see them a lot and start squashing when I see more than 8 or 9 on a plant

I'm away in the Borders this week and thought it was some exotic foreign bug
I have never seen one before and wo dered what it was. Thanks all.

When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it.
If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant.Comment

Took this photo a few days ago. Went to tell the OH his tea was ready and noticed the fox. neither the fox or my husband seem bothered. I on the other hand would have been really scared.

Just popped outside to get something and found this little fellow romping across the grass. It is the second one we have found on the surface this year. Spotted a dragonfly in my garden today. It just so happened to sit on a brick wall right in front of me.
I don't think dragonflies are too common for the area I live in, at least I rarely see them flying about let alone have one sit down right in front of me, so I had to dash in and get the camera to take a pic while I could.
I wanted to identify it so I had a look on Dragonfly and Damselfly Identification Help | british-dragonflies.org.uk and immediately noticed the similarity between mine and the 'Broad-bodied Chaser' picture. I thought that it could be that, but I then read that 'All four wings have a black mark at the base'... and this does not from what I can make out.
Does anyone know what it could be? Perhaps a broad bodied chaser of a different kind? I mean its body is kind of wide, so I find it hard to see what else it could be.
Maybe it's a rare dragonfly?
