There has been an outbreak of ladybirds round here, which I have never seen the like of.

Both at the plot and in the garden - I am overrun.

It's been difficult to look after them - the larvae seem intent on pupating in silly places - such as on the leaves of my early pots just as I want to harvest them.

My mum gave me a ladybird house last year - do you think it made a difference?

I have now seen a few the last few days, mostly on my potatoes... no bugs on them I'm sure.

        Blimey!

I'd got used to seeing the odd ladybird here and there in the garden for the last few weeks but I've lost count of how many I've seen today!

Having posted this I'm off with the camera to snap a few... what's the betting they have all disappeared? Just to thwart me?!

*edit* There's still plenty out there!

The ladybirds are becoming a pest now, smothering me when I go out to hang the washing. They are on everything! 100s of them.
(I don't use aphid-sprays, I just squish the worst outbreaks by hand ... leaving some for the predators)
