Chillies - growing and overwintering 2018

I�ve never heard of the Mabenero? Is that a typo? Is it a hab? If so - that�s a great choice for overwintering.

My other half is used to my plant obsession and now we have an allotment the inevitable clogging of window sills before it is walm enough to use the growhouse aka blowaway.

I�m even contemplating a grow light from the Swedish meatball retailer

I'd just go for it but wait until the Spring/Summer....you may spot some offers. My hobbies seem to take up lots of space, luckily my OH likes to repair his bike in the evenings so we both have to put up with each other!........he didn't even bat an eyelid when I hung a drill from one of the ceiling beams

That’s a good plan, sounds silly but didn’t think that there would be offers on that sort of thing.

Strangely enough the conversation in our house came round to chillies

Bob considers lemon drop to be much hotter than a chocolate hab. Which is ridicules because lemon drop is around 40,000 & chocolate hab is 350,000.
Do you think he has maybe an intolerance to the citrus flavour in the lemon drop or is he just weird . I'm quiet looking forward to seeing how he gets on with the Aji pineapple.

That is a strange one SP..I don't consider Lemon Drop to be hot really and use it as a "lighter" type when mixing chilliies in chutney, sauces etc..

With you there Trip. I think lemon drop is just a nice heat. If that makes sense .
It was odd how every time he made a curry or chilli he put a choc hab in it and I was melting with the internal inferno ( but managing ). I put a lemon drop in the same meals when I make them and he whines like he11

First pods have set on my over winters. One on SB MOA, two Bahamian Goat and now some on Aleppo. I thought Aleppo was dead when I got back from holiday in December, it hadn't been watered and dropped all its leaves. So I'm really happy!

Gave "Nigel" a huge watering, really now needs potting on to give him a little "Humph"

But he is putting on new pods, finger pollinated, so it's working!



And not seen a single "Aphid" yet!

Chocolate Habanero... Giving me a hard time.

Sowed Chocolate Habanero seed, they were not viable and rotted. Have my last 2 in tissue paper in propagator. I had a similar problem last year and got one Chocolate Habanero plant which I have overwintered. It now has 4 "pea" sized chilli's for about 2 months. They start as green and are now Chocolate colour.. Cut one open, it is solid. Will they grow on to full sized chillies now that they have changed colour or should I just pull them off and wait for warmer conditions?

They're not going to grow anymore if they've ripened. Harvest them. Then let nature do its thing again.

some of my plants have started to show, how much should i water these and how regularly. I have been giving them a small amount of water each day so they don't dry out but only a few drops.
