  • How often does everyone else check their seeds? I start mine on the kitchen windowsill so they get checked about every half hour when I'm home.

Every half hour? Mine are at least every 30 seconds

Mine do if I space out the seeds. There's some ideas on how to "stake" seedlings using paperclips or thin wire in the onion thread.

          • Oxheart tom seeds have sprouted, bless 'em, it's soo exciting - and yes, always, always checking for any new growth - every time I pass the windowsills that they're on ... just in case

            • Had another tomato variety germinate today, Peace Vine.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.

              • Now I'm getting in a panic, I haven't sown anything yet, surely it's too early and cold? I only have plastic greenhouse.

Are you all sowing in greenhouses?

                    • Dotty, ive started mine off on windowsills. I do have GH and will transfer them when they're ready to be potted on.

Today - VC, I sowed my first batch of carrot seed into a medium sized potato gro bag. I've been eyeing up my next carrot vessel, it's probably going to be a large pot. Chanteney red cored variety for week 1.

                        • Sungold tomatoes germinated today.
I have started mine in the heated propagator and then have them under lights in my kitchen until the light levels get better, I will then put them in the window in the conservatory in the daytime and take them in at night.

                          • I have sown tomatoes: gardener's delight. tumbling tom red, vilma, balconi red and money maker.

Also an aubergine called listada de gandia. Last year I grew 5 of these plants and only got 1 aubergine so I saved the seeds and am having another attempt. Hopefully we'll have a better summer in Scotland this year!

A photo would help? How tall are they, when did they germinate.

are you following VCs example??!...Remember that she is slightly nuts and also much further south you. Courgettes will be huge in 4weeks time and are also very tender plants...I hope you've got big windowsills? I sow mine in May.
