A bit miserable today so lit the wood burner in the greenhouse and had a big tidy up. Took all my bunches of grapes off the vine and did its autumn pruning when i was on.
Pulled up all the toms in a single raised bed, composted them and fed the mushy tomatoes to the chooks.
Turned over the same bed and after adding some rock dust planted out a dozen Starmaker kale where the toms were.Put some slug pellets around them which don't need to be covered for the birda as its indoors
Took my two little bunches of leek grass to the allotment that i had harvested from two seed heads of two different strains of leek. They have been sitting on damp kitchen roll in my kitchen to form a few roots.Potted up two dozen of each strain into modules.

I noticed my big blow away was nearly blowing away today & my seedlings were on the built in shelf,so I got my little blow away out the shed & put them safe in there (secured by metal chairs against my house so a bit more warmth too). If the big one collapses I won't mind now.

Just been out doing a little weeding and watering and noticed that the kohl rabi seedling are i think small cabbages, which means they are planted far too close together, i really do not want to thin them, grr i know my Spanish is not great but grr its annoying. They seem to only do 3 types of cabbage here small white ones, big white ones and red ones, pretty sure they are the small ones.
Wonder if i just left them i would just have very small cabbages which i won't mind as there is only the 2 of us....ummm.........

This morning I snipped/pulled the last of the giant nettles that had been growing behind my pallet compost bins - these bins are getting emptied and dismantled soon as I've bought a couple of sectional upright bins off G**tree that will use up less space.
Pruned my solitary gooseberry bush and pulled up all the weeds and strawberry runners that were growing underneath it.

Harvested some humungus brussel sprouts some mooli . Eggs from my chooks are in short supply just now, but brought half a dozen home for consumption. Checked on my grass leeklets from my show strains of leeks and they are starting to put out a few roots. Slightly worried at AP's post about discarding leeklets with any brown on base as all mine seem to have brown basal rot to some degree!

    Today I built my polytunnel

It took longer than estimated but that's mostly because I'm pretty meticulous when it comes to these things and I double checked every joint, made sure every nut and bolt was properly secured and applied hot tape to the poles to hopefully give me some extra time before I eventually have to replace the cover

This morning I pulled all the spent sweetcorn and extremely healthy weeds out of my potato bags and barrels. Also cut the last Crown Prince squash from it's vine - it's not gone that nice grey/blue colour, but maybe it'll ripen up indoors.

    It's a really satisfying feeling, isn't it!

Nothing done on allotment today as stuck at work longer than I wanted to be but this evening these two 'fell' into my shopping basket in Morrisons Bargain at just 3 each!

Today I cleared the site for my new polytunnel, it was tiring work but its now clear and I've relocated a number of huge paving slabs that I intend to use to weigh down the poly cover. I feel tired but have that feeling that I've really accomplished something.

I just need a day now with no rain forecast so I can construct the tunnel in the dry.

Had a very productive day today.
Went to the beach this morning and after a lovely long walk we picked two bags of seaweed.
Home and after lunch I dug over part of my garden, pulled out the weeds , chopped up the seaweed and dug it all in.
Fairly tired now but well pleased with my days work.
