    • I've done flowers today - verbascum, nicotiana, oriental poppy, and viola. And planted first early potatoes.
      Location - Leicestershire - Chisit-land
      Endless wonder.

      • Well, I'm chuffed, a week ago I sowed tomato seeds - Lemon pear(?), Red zebra, black from Tula - all free from the VSP. They've all germinated and are doing really well on the window sill. Also from the VSP were some sweet peas, which I sowed today.

        • Besides some digging, I sowed the following:

Chive seed, 'salad bowl' lettuce, some ancient ailsa craig onion seeds i had lying around (5 years old!?), 'north holland blood red' spring onion, beetroot 'chioggia'.

I also planted a french tarragon plant that I bought, along with some lavender.

Some nice person also left some "annabelle" seed potatoes in the swap box at the allotments, so i grabbed a couple to join the charlotte, red duke of york and king wdward chitting on the windowsill.
If anyone has grown that variety, let me know if its worth the space to grow?

          • My last frost date is early May.. we don't have heating in the flat.. But I am absolutely dying to get at least SOMETHING happening in the flat. Do I sit on my hands for another couple of weeks, or do I chance sowing something a little hardier? Arrfff >.<

            • Habanero chilli today, along with Calendula and nasturtium as companions for the veg. I've also sown some broad bean seeds in the bean bed because the established plants are a bit droopy and leggy, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they germinate quickly and catch up. Carrot and parsnip directly sown in a raised bed and some sunflowers in modules.

              • Kohlrabi and turnips here - my first sowings directly into soil. Covered with a net to keep out the cats, birds and any other destructive beasties who are just waiting to dig them up.

                      • Sowed mangetout peas yesterday direct in the ground, with crossed fingers that the local woodies won't spot them before they are above pecking height.
