I know I missed July's photos, but I haven't been home to take them, I was working away for 3 weeks , but my other half did a great job keeping it all watered.

Its been a very atypical July and August here in the Auvergne, lots of rain and storms. Its settling down a bit this week but the locals are all saying its the worst summer ever!
So.... the climbing beans have been very poor and half of the tomatoes got blight. However the weather has been good for the potatoes and the squash! Luckily the potatoes were ok and missed the blight and are now all harvested.

Changes since July - The squashes and tomatoes alongside the GH are romping away and I've reinstated the pond on the right that was hidden in the bushes.

On the extreme left, in the shadow of the wall, the bushes have been removed and I have planted 11 Elsanta strawberry plants, bought earlier this year, and 45 rooted runners Hoping for lots of strawberries next year.

The garden is in the pink.
In the allotment, there's a mustard green manure growing where the onions used to be, the leek crop is very patchy, the sugarsnaps had to be pulled because of a pea moth infestation, but the beans are producing well and I'm working to keep up with all the ripe tomatoes.

Actually it already looks quite different since I've cleared all the potato haulms, but you'll have to wait a few weeks for the next picture!

1st September - Happy Autumn!

From the east - looks much the same but with taller leeks.

and from the west - tomatoes all cleared this week after they eventually gave into the blight. It has been the biggest harvest in five years this year.

Everything starting to look a bit tired. Courgettes and cucumbers have mildew, beans have stopped flowering, and the tomatoes in the growhouse have collapsed in a heap! Onions have been replaced with brassicas under netting, although currently all I seem to be doing is feeding the slugs .

Fruit cage has collapsed in the wind, but luckily the blueberries survived.

The late sown peas are struggling but have produced a few pods. Nasturtiums are still going great guns and appear to have deterred the dreaded pea moth.

Allotment has gone back to a jungle after being neglected over the summer. Plenty of time to crack on now as little girl started full time school this year


Garden has been cleared of tomato plants. Leeks and parsnips doing well, strawberries have taken over
