If your going to grow peas in a bucket put in the support, move in from the edge of the bucket about an inch and a half and plant a circle of peas about the same distance a part that way you may get enough peas to make it worth while.

I've never eaten peas out of a tin ~ are they nice? Or just squishy?

They might have got better but the last time I had them when I was about 10 they were totally foul, really strange taste and no decent texture. If that was all I could have then I wouldn't eat peas at all.

Ah if you like them you might like tinned peas as I think they're foul too and thankfully haven't had to suffer then for a long time.

When I was a nipper and had meals at other peoples house I loved tinned marrowfat peas. We never had them at home so it was a real treat. My OH is the same. On Saturday I took my Mom shopping and it was a revelation to me that she loves them too especially with faggots! (We have Black Country roots). My Dad used to make his own faggots even using caul to wrap them, but the peas he used to cook to go with them were almost black.

Anybody know what variety they are?

Goggling around - they seem to be called Grey peas.

And guess what? I sewed 11 Victorian purple podded peas yesterday! I thought it was just the pods that were purple.

Don't know if they're the same as the ones my dad cooked though!
