I'm in the same boat with peas CG & will be sowing more this week sometime. I'm fairly sure I was sowing this time last year so probably went too early with my 1st batch x

Today I sowed courgettes gold rush & atena polka, basil, some more marigolds & a few honey bear squash. I had a look at last years seed sowing thread because I felt like something should be being sowed. Last year I sowed cucumber on 28th April & beans on May 8th so loads of time

Today I sowed the last of an open packet of crimson flowered broad beans and some old leek seed tapes. I am trying to use up as many open and old seed packets as I can this year.
Nestled somewhere in the Cambridgeshire Fens. Good soil, strong winds and 4 Giant Puffballs!

Put runners and CFB to chit. The runners are self-saved, and the DFB old, so I've put a lot more than I actually need. if they all chit my garden will be a jungle in the summer.

                          Sympathy like there Andraste.
I never bother sowing any type of french bean until mid/ end May as they always seem to rot for me. I don’t have a greenhouse, but I really find the night temperatures and moisture seem to kill them off before then….and don’t start on about slugs

I'm blaming the compost - it's holding water much longer than expected - but I also soaked the seed for an hour or so which I don't usually do. I've made sure the compost isn't so wet & didn't soak this time. I've had a poor show on peas & mangetout as well

Indeed my mum's also offered some spare mangetout if I need them & I'm pretty sure she has cfbs too so I'm lucky to have a backup plan. She also had patchy peas so is hoping my 2nd lot will do better & I can return the favour
