You're right, Rary. But I have no first-hand knowledge of this. Being a youngster, I've used modern technology to verify your claim: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oldest...ed%20in%202005.

100% sprouting on my cucs (mini munch) so potted up all 5 today - I only want 3 but I'm sure I can find a home for the spares. No sprouts on the chilli or broadies yet.

Planted my red onion sets in trays too - Does that count as seed sowing?

Can hardly believe it - they've all popped their little heads up, even the sow by 2018!

Congrats Florence Fennel - you've proved it's always worth trying (unless it's parsnips)

                Peas?
So I've read about soaking them (not tried that).
Do I just put them into water? Or Chit on damp towel?

CG I soak mine overnight in room temperature water afterwards I treat them like sprouting seeds.

Strangely, since being hit by the frost, my peas have done absolutely nothing. Apart from a few leaves looking a bit crispy.
The growing tips look fine, but I was wondering if there is anything else I can do to them to bring them along?
They are about 3” high and have three sets of leaves and a few have their first tendrils

Sunny Sunday saw a lot of seeds being sown - excuse the sibilance!

Into rootrainers went Alderman peas, dwarf french beans - Delinel and Purple Teepee, runner bean Moonlight, all sitting in trays on the dining table.
Into the heated propagator went peppers - sweet Dulce and Jalapeno M, chilli - Bangalore and Gunter, perhaps a bit late. Tomatoes, Sungold, Costoluto Fiorentino and Piccolo Dattero Ibrido.
Flowers, cosmos, sunflower, nasturtium, calendula, borage and Fern lavender.

I also bought some more tomato seeds - Flamingo and some dwarf Borlotto beans from DT Brown.

To see a world in a grain of sand
And a heaven in a wild flower

Last night I sowed seven mini snack bite peppers

They’ve hardly done anything Jungle Jane .
They are still about 4” high.
A few new tendrils and one more set of leaves appearing on a few of them, even though I fed them. They have good root growth peeping out of the base of the tall trainer pots.
I was looking for feed today but most seemed to be granular. Certainly no liquid seaweed. I wonder if I could get it online….
They seemed to have gone into shock and some of the leaves became slightly yellowed ( hence feeding them)

You could plant them out for more root space & we have some good weather this week? I didn’t know they were in pots. When I’ve grown peas overwinter they always have a slow spring like they’re getting over the cold winter, very slow growth.
