I only harvest my carrots as I need them, cover them with fleece and leave them in the ground, do you lift all yours then store them?

I leave mine in the ground or in their buckets (30 litre) until needed. The buckets are useful as I can bring one into the garage if frost is forecast so that I can still pull out the carrots. I learned a harsh lesson in early 2013 when all my veg (basically leeks and carrots) were stuck in frozen solid ground for about a month!

I've still got a load of 'grass' leeks to pot on. they are all from one leek seed head.. I have potted on about 70 up til now and this last lot will take it over 100. Some of the the ones I potted on first into modules are ready for a move into their final pots before planting out. The ones left to pot up are in a glass of water to establish a few roots before potting.

I intend to plant my onion seed in the heated propagator in the next week or so, I used to wait till Boxing Day, but intend to start them a bit earlier as I believe the show growers do, then I will sow next years pot leeks after when the prop is vacant.

I need to plant my garlic tomorrow or this week & I"�ll plant my other bag of onion sets into a cell tray for now & plant them out somewhere in the spring. I might pop to the garden centre to get a bag of compost (& seeds probably you know what it"�s like) to keep in the house for December/January seed sowing. Also need to make a bubble wrap house round the peach tree to protect from the rain & leaf curl.
